I cannot get the cursor to appear when writing  a message hear, it appears in the topic title and other web sites i use.

Let me guess, you are using FireFox 3.6?

Covered in another topic already, solution is:

Just click the end button on the reply page

it is the square box with two arrows inside on the right had side it is called "Switch between standard and rich text"

I had this problem before and found clicking the button was the solution.
