Any particular reason you think a food forum will get you there faster? Will it be a restaurant tour?

200 kilo of rice should cover it.

OK,OK, enough making fun of this guy's choice of the food forum.
Seriously, I was quoted 4,000 Baht for a 450km trip (Bangkok to my home province in Isaan). Figure your distance using Google maps, and arrive at a fair estimate to guide your bargaining. I thought the 4k was pretty fair. However, it only costs 2,700k to fly the same distance. Korat does have an airport. #6Posted 2010-03-08 19:07:32
Hire a small car and driver? Might be worth shopping around some of the Mom and Pop car hire places?

bus - from about 150 to 250 bt oneway - nakornchai-air is one of the better companies.
4 hours, and probably safer than a taxi (as it's bigger!) #8Posted 2010-03-08 22:44:29

Gentlemen,
Thankyou all so much for your ......input,however supercilious some of it was. And please excuse my ignorance on the matter, if I had been an 'old Thai hand' as some of you obviously are, I would not have had the temerity to waste Y'alls time with such a trivial query. Cheers.. #10Posted 2010-03-15 14:51:53
i took a cab from don muang (bkk) to korat for 2200bht i'd never do that now. you couuld hire a car 1 way with budget for less than 4000bt then you'd know at least thentixication level of the driver. i'd look into the comuter vans too. probbly best bet. 3k tops mate andcomfort like no other opptioon.
sorry airport key pad is sticky... #11Posted 2010-03-17 15:12:14
