Planning continues for Pattaya’s new Monorail network

PATTAYA: -- When Khun Itipon was campaigning to become Mayor of Pattaya in 2008, one of his election promises was to install a monorail network here in Pattaya. At the time, the ambitious plan was welcomed by the people of Pattaya, including foreign tourists who believed the monorail would transform Pattaya. It has taken the Mayor many meetings to instigate his plans and on Wednesday Morning at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Itipon chaired a meeting to discuss the logistics of constructing the monorail and how it may impact the local community and the local environment.

How does the Pattaya baht bus/fake taxi "meter" mafia feel about this? Sounds like a political ploy to keep a fantasy alive. When is he up for election again?

in drawing plans for the mono rail have the factored in that Second Road is likely to be under the sea by the time they start the project?

On Soi Siam Country Club there is a billboard showing the monorail as it is a fact already.

I also dreamed about a 30 mns ride BTS / MRT / SRT / SHINKANSEN/ TGV from Bkk to Pattaya, but it is still not here...

The difference with the "officials" is that i keep my dreams for myself :-)

Excellent link, looks like they are going to put about 300m width onto the beach as well.  :D
