Just got a phone line + DSL installed by True. I'm on the 256kb, 590 Baht package. However I only get close to 256 on sites within thailand. Outside thailand it's about half that. Is this normal or is there some way I can tweak my connection? Also, disconnects are fairly frequent but it's easy to connect again. Could this be a modem issue (i'm using the true supplied modem) or is this common with True? Overall, for 590 Baht a month I'm very satisfied so far and it definately beats a dial-up connection.

That's quite normal i'm afraid.
The connection abroad varies greatly. Nick #3Posted 2005-08-06 11:53:34
No it is not normal to have disconnects or speed much below that paid for when testing to server. Do a test to http://wow.trueinter...h/speedtest.php and if still 256 call TRUE as they probably set you up wrong.
I would make sure you have a good phone connection between your filter and the street as you should not have a lot of disconnects. I run all day. Oops. Ignore the red: thought you had 512 service - if you get 256 in country that is all you can expect. The international bandwidth is just not there with CAT the only provider. Same package. Never been disconnected. Same speed as yours for the first ten days and everything started to get bad... sometimes speed is even slower than dial-up! It seems it happens to many of us!
Today is pretty good. Despite some bad days, still better than dial-up. |
