Title says it all really, just what Thailand doesn't need at the start of the tourist season.

Err, does the title say it all?...it seems to refer to a bird ventilation pipe or chimney........

Don't overdramatize. It's just ONE case, not even in Thailand, and I read the lady was just back from China.

In Hong Kong they always overreact. During the last flu panic a friend of mine who was attending a local fair was locked in his hotel room for more than a week.

Then what ?

Nothing !!!

Bird Flu is diagnosed quite regularly in Thailand and has been since the 2004 outbreak in SE Asia, but it rarely reaches the international press in any meaningful way, regardless of whether it's the chimney pipe version or H5N1  :). A single case in Hong Kong however has been reported globally and it's that level of reporting that attracts attention, gets blown out of all proprtion and scares away the tourists, rightly or wrongly.
