Hello everyone. Please read below the way we go tomorrow. See you there.
Hello all.
There will be two routes for the ride on April 1. There is a route for the faster bikes and a route for the not so fast.
Fast route is:
Leaving PTT start point, proceed on Route 1 to Route 118 turn off at Ban Mai. Right turn on Route118 and proceed to Route 120 just before Mae Kachan. Left turn on Route 120 into Phayao and follow the lake front.
Slower route is:
Leaving PTT start point, proceed on Route 1 just a few kilometers to Route 1020. Make the left onto Route 1020 and proceed to Route 1028 just past Chiang Khien. Right onto Route 1028 through Ko to Pa Ngae and Route 1126. Left on 1126 to Pa Daet and then right on Route 1202. Follow Route 1202 into Phayao ad follow the lake front.
Along the lake front in Phayao, look for a black Vigo (our support vehicle) parked at the entrance to a restaurant. We will decide from there where to eat. After lunch, some will do the high circuit overlooking the lake if they want and then all will head home via the same routes or the direct route (Route 1) for those in a hurry to get back to Chiang Rai. The Chiang Mai riders will break off after lunch and head to Chiang Mai
If you're lost or cannot find the meet points, you can call 089-429-4562 for directions or help.
Basic maps will be available at the start point at 09:00 a.m. for those who need one. Phone number exchange is encouraged.

Looks like a good turn out and a nice cross section of bikes.
What were the smallest Bikes to join ?
Thought there is a red Honda PCX in the Picture at the lake ?

Actually the smallest bike (125?) was an emergency last minute replacement for J. who was the instigator for this ride. He normally rides a 1000cc. Other than that there was PCX150 and a CBR150

Hello everyone. Thank you all who ride with us. Lets do again soon. Please read about the ride from e-mail below.
Hello all. April 1st Chiang Rai Bikers Day Ride went well with over 20 bikes attending. Many bikers from Chiang Mai joined the CR group, as did some from north of CR and further east. Most riders were first timers with the CR group ride but most said they would be back for more. A wide range of bike sizes, styles and year was present, as was a wide range of riders, from young to not so young. Overall, a splendid representation of bikers joined up to make for a very pleasant day.
The start point meeting went well and when all had filled up on coffee for the trip, the group moved out smartly and headed down Route 1 seeking the various intersections and turns that lay ahead. Some of the ladies went along two-up with their partners and some of the ladies rode along in the support truck. The ladies in the support truck pooled resources and ideas for a snack, drinks and ice spread, which was enjoyed by most at Phayao during the long stop by the lake. Some took advantage of the restaurants close by and others skipped the restaurants entirely to enjoy the snacks, drinks and fresh fruit that the ladies brought along.
The route was fairly free of traffic and with a few stops for drinks and smokes, the groups arrived in Phayao a little earlier than expected. After a long lunch and conversation break, the groups headed back towards their respective home towns. The CR group stopped off for coffee half way to CR and then closed out the day shortly afterwards.
One bike gave up the ghost on the ride home and was stored with a kindly petrol station owner until the next day, when it was recovered by the CR group and delivered to CR for repairs. We learned that a breakdown on the day rides is no big deal, with all pitching in to take care of mishaps.
As of this time, there is no date set for a ride next month (May) but there have been several suggestions on the destinations for future rides. If anyone wants to call a ride, have at it. Set a date, meeting time and place, a destination and any points of interest or activities that people might enjoy and we have a ride. The folks at CR Saddlebags will help get the word out if needed and will help with any planning or logistics if needed. CR Saddlebags currently has a fair list of riders who have expressed interest in the rides and we are happy to post ride info via e-mail to all who have signed up for these e-mails. If you know of others who would like to be on the notification list, just let us know of their address and we will add them. We will also post ride info on various English language and Thai language forums to help spread the word if asked.
If you received this e-mail and do not wish to be on the notification list, just reply to us with that info and we will remove you from the list. Keep in mind, we will not send you advertisements, political views, jokes or other nonsense. Our day ride list is for day ride info only.
There are several pics from the April 1 st day ride attached to this e-mail. If anyone wants electronic copies of the rest of the pics taken by Woraphat, let us know with an e-mail and we will forward them to you or you can stop by with a media storage device and we can transfer them to you.

Hello. A new man makes the trip plan for May 1. Please read about below. More news and a map about that coming soon.
Thanks to all for organizing the CR bike ride on 1st April. Good to meet
some new riders. Thanks also to the ladies for providing refreshments.
Here attached is my suggestion for a ride for next month, done in a
clockwise direction.
This is a different kind of ride to the Phayao ride. The first part is a bit
boring, down main road 1211, but then after Charin Resort, you get into some
great twisties. Up and over the Lum Nam Kok National Park on the 3037. There
is a coffee shop at the top of Doi Chang (of course) that I think does food
too, or there is a resort in Wawi that has a restaurant. Then the 1089 back
to Mae Chan is always fun. The last run back to Chiang Rai is highway 1.
My friends and I would say goodbye in Mae Chan and head back to Bahn
Mai/Chiang Saen from there.
I did this route last November and there are some beautiful views. If the
haze clears a bit by 1st May, it'll be a great ride.

Hello everyone. Please see below the change of day for the ride for May. Also about the details. If questions, can contact me on pm here. Welcome to join us.
The May Day Ride date has been moved to the 2nd of May to avoid May 1st holiday traffic. May 1 is a national holiday in Thailand.
There is an attached file containing a map of the route.
Here is a link to the Google map showing the meet and start point for the ride- http://g.co/maps/up73v
As always, all sizes and styles of bikes are welcome. Most of us won't be in any hurry and breaks/stops for smokes, pictures, chats, sightseeing and rain avoidance are up to the individual riders. When the group leaves the start point, you'll quickly find yourselves riding in smaller groups of riders who share your style and speed of riding. Getting lost, taking wrong turns, short cuts and scenic by-ways is highly acceptable, as sooner or later, we all end up at the same place and there is no hurry to be any where at any time. Faster bikes/riders will no doubt add a few kilometers to the route and still make the lunch stop in time for some idle chat. As much as this is a nice ride and nice day out, this is an opportunity to meet some new people, make some new friends and share info about favorite rides, routes and places to visit.
The ladies are planning on bringing the refreshments in four-wheel vehicles and they welcome all of the other ladies who wish to attend but don't want to spend the day on a bike. If any of you have someone who wants to join with the others in bringing refreshments and a truck or car, that person/s, if they choose to, they can contact Woraphat so they can get together on who is bringing what and who.
Details of the ride are below-
Wednesday 2nd May
to avoid the holiday on the 1st. We hope that suits everyone and better to ride on a non-holiday day.
Meeting place; Amazon coffee shop at the PTT petrol station on highway 1 in Chiang Rai, just south of the Kawasaki dealer.
Meeting time; 08:30
Departure time; 09:00
Coffee, petrol, tire inflation, snacks and restrooms are available at the PTT
Route- This is a different kind of ride to the Phayao ride. The first part is a bit
boring, down main road 1211, but then after Charin Resort, you get into some
great twisties. Up and over the Lum Nam Kok National Park on the 3037. There

too, or there is a resort in Wawi that has a restaurant. Then the 1089 back
to Mae Chan is always fun. The last run back to Chiang Rai is highway 1.
If anyone needs any type of clarification on any of the above, please let us know. Our e-mailing list for this ride has almost doubled since last time but if any of you know of anyone else who wishes to be on the list, please forward this to them and have them contact me. Also feel free to post this on your websites or blogs and forward to any other local publishing persons as you see fit.

Hello everyone. Please see below the ride for May. Also about the details. If questions, can contact me on pm here. to join us.
Just a reminder about the upcoming ride. So far, we have one truck going with lady spouses, ice, drinks and snacks. We also have one car with a couple going along. No word yet on the biggest bike that will attend but the smallest I have heard of so far is a couple of scooter style bikes, maybe 125 cc. There may be several more scooters on that day. A few of our locals who attended last time are out of country for this one and won't make it and some that were away last time will be there for this ride. New folks to meets, old friends to greet.
Regards,
