Looks like we have settled on a date and time that will suit some. Monday, the 28th Feb., 10:00 a.m. We will head for the hot springs, out past Don's cafe. It was suggested that we do not meet in town because of all of the traffic and traffic lights, but instead to meet near my place, which is on the way out of town, headed towards the springs. There is a big shade tree across the street from my house. Looks like a good place to meet. I'm in the Den Haa area, just off the old CM highway. PM for details if you don't know where I live.
Any suggestions or input welcome. Other than that, we'll see any of you there that choose to go along. Bikes of all sizes welcome. Again, it isn't a race. Looks like we have four confirmed at this time. #32Posted 2011-02-19 20:12:38

Anyway, I found the place but it took me an extra ten minutes because of the poor directions. How much fish did you get? Is it worth the effort? And how about the goat? Are you as interested in such things as old Jubbby? When it comes to a daytrip the upper Hot Spring seem to be better. You can find Good food and Cold Beer there. Going further up along the river you will find the Motorbike Bridge and can cross the river on that one and take the road passing Elephant Camp where they also have Cold Beer. I saw you mention Beer Laos Dark somewhere. Do you have a source or you only get in personal supplies? #36Posted 2011-02-25 23:43:07
Svenian I saw you mention Beer Laos Dark somewhere. Do you have a source or you only get in personal supplies? The Beer Lao Dark is hard to find here in Thailand. I rented a boat in Golden Triangle and went over to Laos, to the small island there. I bought a couple of boxes of the beer there. I told all the details in another thread, cannot remember which but search the forum for Beer Lao! It is worth all effort!

sounds like the 400 baht boat trip from Chiang Saen maybe? I did the same, nipped over to the market on the Laos side, no officials either side
If it was that trip, there's a small kiosk type place on the river front in Chiang Saen near the traffic lights. Alternatively there's the Chinese company nearer Sob Ruak who will take you over for free but you have to go and walk round their casino before they'll take you to the market! #38Posted 2011-02-26 08:00:29

The 400 baht boat is a long tail type thing which might sink with enough beer laos for a wedding party! #44Posted 2011-02-26 09:48:57

Monday, the 28th Feb., 10:00 a.m. We will head for the hot springs, out past Don's cafe If it isn't please let me know. I need to make sure the KandyMan is there as 1/ we are meeting at his place and 2/ want to keep an eye on him as someone poisoned my guard dog and I have his admission in writing about having designs on our place. Now if this was a western country he could be up on charges. Tehy might not stick but think about alll you Thailand knockers. We dont live in that type of society anymore. If it is something other than the bike ride then thats fine I dont need to know your machinations. By the way: Is there food & drink available at these hot springs?? Is it like the standard hot spring tourist traps?? #45Posted 2011-02-26 09:59:35
If indeed you lost your dog, I am sorry to hear that. I have a soft spot for dogs.
The route, date and times are still on, no changes except, the wife may not be joining us. There are food and drinks "in the vicinity" of the springs. Not sure if it is the same as all tourist hot springs sites. Dunno anything about those places. But Sven seems to be in the know about that area. We'll be fine. Now, if you guys decide you need to show up here early, let me know. I have a recipe for a pretty good breakfast but I'll need some warning time. #46Posted 2011-02-26 09:59:53

There's a National park just up the road too, And its FREE also. We'll probably have the Hotsprings and the National park to ourselves . Kd. Its definately Sunday in my Village, ......... Just been round to check the Television situation at my Inlaws as I've heard they are without. I do remember installing DTV satelite system a couple of years ago. No TV to be seen, and the satelite Dish is horizontal with a few things like chilli's drying in it. ...... So, yes , Its Sunday in my world today. reminds me of a Song #47Posted 2011-02-26 11:37:22

Would love brekkie as we will not eat before leaving. Your Eggs Benedict (2 on english muffins), mushrooms sauteed in butter with garlic, the homemade hashbrowns and bacon sound wondeful expecially with freshly squeezed navel ornages and 2 Italian sized cups of imported expresso coffee, but I am unsure of our arrival time. While we will leave home circa 0800 we are dropping off the house dog in CR for a day at the Spa so I am unsure what time we will get to your place. Think of us while you are eating. #48Posted 2011-02-26 11:48:21

My wife worked out her indecision and she IS going. Yes, I'm crazy about hot dogs, but not the poisoned ones. But keep an eye on me just in case. #49Posted 2011-02-26 12:24:55
