Just wanted to give some info on my TV experience at the Thai Consulate in Brisbane.

I applied for a double entry TV last week. I rang them a number of times before going there to confirm what details I needed to provide them. They were adamant that I needed to show my flight into Thailand plus my flight in and out of Thailand for the second entry. I didn't have to show my final flight out of Thailand though.

I showed up last week on Thursday and when I said I wanted a double entry Tourist Visa the 1st thing they asked for was the flight in and out of Thailand for the 2nd entry. I was able to provide that paperwork. Upon showing that paperwork, they said to come back on Tuesday to collect it. They also said that the Visa expiry is 3 months which states it on their website to.

I went in on Tuesday and collected my Visa.

People have said that you don't need to provide the details of a flight in and out of Thailand for the double entry and you also get 6 months visa expiry, but the Brisbane consulate you have to show the flight details and only gave 3 months. Could this be due to the Visa's being free at the moment and once you have to start paying for them they may change the rules about showing the tickets and the length of the visa expiry?? What are your thoughts?

It's just a bit of a heads up when going to the Brisbane Consulate.

The Brisbane consulate is the most consistent and semaless I have found globally.Someone will always ahve abetetr but that is one of the joys of posting.  The air ticket is compulsory just some consulates forget it. It was enforced before the free visa phase.

What you have posted is that the consulate does its job exactly as they said they would do and you had a seamless experience. Good to hear

i got mine done in the Sydney Embassy and they asked for all of the same info regarding flights, but when I got there, they just wanted my passport. They gave me my double entry Visa with no troubles after two business days. The guy who helped me did say that my Visa started from the date that I received it in Australia, not the day that I arrived in Thailand. Strange? Did you have the same problem or did I just not understand the guy?

The visa is valid for entry for a set period of time (three months for single entry is normal) and that time starts from date of issue.  The permitted to stay starts from arrival (which ranges from 30 to 90 days for normal transit/tourist/non immigrant visa.  The exception is the long stay one year permitted to stay from arrival.

All visa start from the date of issue, not date of arrival in Thailand

The visa validity is the time period you can enter Thailand.  On entry you receive the normal permitted to stay time of 30/60/90 days that your visa type and passport county allow.

Myself and my wife just walked into the Thai Consulate in Brisbane with just the printed off form from their website, two photos and our passports. We requested a dual entry tourist visa each, and they said "come back in 1 hour". 1 hour later we walked out with our dual entry visas. No questions asked at all, no request for flight or travel details or anything. Too easy! Lovely to deal with as well.

I've got visa's from the Brisbane office 3 times over the years and I've found the experience ( seamless) to quote a previous poster.
They are excellent to deal with.
