I plan to be in LOS next year for several months on a Non-Imm B Visa.
Duing the time I am in BKK, I would like to transfer to a "Retirement Visa".

Is it ok to transfer from a Non-Imm B to a "Retirement Visa".. (whatever that one is called)?  

And, can you do it ok in BKK?

If you mean, and I think you do, you want to extend your stay in Thailand one year at a time the answer is yes.  You could even do, with a conversion process, for a 60 day tourist visa if required.

Bangkok is the hqs and takes about an hour or so (plus time to obtain bank letter/embassy letter (if required)/medical and make copies.  Cost is 1,900 baht plus a photo 4x6cm.

Thanks Lopburi.  Yes, that's what I mean...  

I had heard a rumour (hate those) that you could only transfer from a "Non-Imm O" Visa to a Retirement Visa situation... not from a "Non-Imm B".....??

What exactly is the Official Name/Number of the "Retirement Visa".., so I can look up what it needs..

As Lopburi must be sleeping at this time and I, in Switzerland, am still up and about I give you this link to the site of the Immigration Bureau.

Click on “Change Visa”, then on “For retirement in Thailand (NON-O)”. What you’re applying for is a change in the category of your non-immigrant visa, from non-B to non-O for retirement.

If you have any doubts that need dispelling, give Immigration a call. I’ve read in this forum that they are very friendly and helpful at Suan Plu in Bangkok.

Can anyone help with forms..?  I tried to download 2 pdf forms from their site, several times, but they always come in garbled..  Anyone have better sources..?

You found links to PDF files on that site?

Not sure what you’re looking for. Here’s a link to the TM.86 form. Hope it works. If you print it out for your application, print it on a single sheet, 2-sided.

Incidentally, many links on the Immigration site do not work with Firefox. Proprietary HTML coding, for which Microsoft Internet Explorer must be used.

The forms are Microsoft Word documents, bi-lingual English/Thai. Perhaps you haven’t got the Thai fonts on your PC and that’s why the text seems partially garbled.

Chris, I have converted the TM.86 into a PDF file so that you may be able to read it.

The size may longer be exactly the same and you best use the form you can get at the Immigration Office.

Maybe the offer of work he had been promised in order to obtain his B visa has been withdrawn. I doubt if I'd empoy him as this thread demonstrates lack of computer skills, or basic the skill to use forum search facility or undertake research. He is also a poor judge of character since he mistakenly takes us for fools.

I am planning for 2 trips.

This one of 32 days is in December.

The Non-Imm B to Retirement Question refers to my long-stay visit that will start in April.

Apologies if I cause any confusion. I'm very busy and I just like to plan ahead.. that's all.

The TM86 viewing/printing problem is that it loads as a .doc file, but the line of Thai and Lines of English are overlapping.. with weird grey blocks too..

I'll try the pdf.

Why even be concerned about a Tm.87 as this point?  Get on with your vacation and enjoy yourself and use a Tm.7 or a border crossing to obtain the extra two days.

Me thinks you worry too much.
