I had to install a new Ubuntu OS because of problems, For some reason(I still can work out why) my notebook will not install another 11.04 so I had to get the 10.04 LTS from the Ubuntu website, That installed ok but problem now is I have no Wifi connectivity, I read about installed windows wifi drivers using "ndisgtk" a windows driver,(I dont have it in repositories) But I cant get it installed, I only have wifi where I am and I guess I need an ethernet line to install anything direct, Is there any other way to get the Wifi working ?

And your hardware is top secret?
I am not an expert but knowing what wifi card you have might help to solve the problem. :)

I don't think you need to install any windows wifi driver on Ubuntu to get wifi to work. Sometimes the daemon crashes for some reason, and it helps to manually ( in my case ) turn it on and restart for as many times as it takes for it to start working.

Well, a Belkin G adaptor will work with a clean Ubuntu 10.04 installation on a second-hand PC - if that's the Wifi standard you're using.  (I suppose it's just conceivable that the driver for Windows was found and used, but I find that implausible.)

Saving network passwords, especially for a shared machine, may be a bit of a nightmare - for this I found a solution on line.
