Any news or views on the 2465,I am thinking of buying one.

I just received mine.

As it is my first GPS I don't have anything to compare it to, but most things seem to work as I expect they would.

One exception, it does not have voice recognition. The manual (which I had to download  - English did not come with it) says "Touch Tools -> Voice Command .." Uh-uh. No such command there or anywhere else.

I have a Nuvi 855 and it has a little remote for voice recognition. Pressing the bottom on the remote activates voice commands. If you bought the unit new, did it come with a remote?

Bought it new and there is no remote, and no mention anywhere of one in the description or manuals. The ads for the unit do say that voice activation is not available in all areas. There are specific instructions in the manual on how to activate the voice recognition on this model (by speaking an Activate command) - where available, that is!

I think you're out of luck. I just looked at the 2465 0n the Eagle GPS site and it doesn't mention voice commands.

Don't feel too bad, mine works OK but I very seldom use it. It irritates my Thai wife because it doesn't understand her English.    It understands me quite well.

You are reading the ads from the Garmin Singapore website. I do not believe the Thai OS 2465 has Voice Command capabilities and certainly no remote control.

It's not a big deal. It would not have affected my decision to buy this unit as I got it only to find my way back to a few specific locations in case I got turned around (i.e., lost) which happens quite a bit! I would not need voice commands for that.

The OP on this thread asked for info and experiences so that might be something he or others would want to know.

Got it today,seems every thing is OK.Don't think I will be going to Malaysia though.

I assume it comes with everything you need, including Thai maps? (Thailand Street Map v. 12? SD card?)

I seem some MSRPs of 8,700 THB. Can one beat this price or are the retail prices the same at any/all outlets? Are there any sales, promotions on Garmin products here?

1. The Garmin nuvi 2465 available in Thailand comes with Thailand Street Map v12.0 dual language map (selectable English or Thai).
2. MicroSD card is optional.
3. MSRP of 8,700 THB is the Thailand price. You might talk somebody into a discount.
