It seems I was cursed by an old lady who got upset by the behaviour of my then girlfriend. This happened in Yangon. She did signs and murmured some stuff at us for about a minute or so. After that everything went wrong. I'm asking for help from anyone who knows how a strong curse like this could be taken off. For a westerner like me this is uncharted territory, but I do believe that there must be someone capable of taking this off here in Thailand. Once again, I'm not joking. Where, who? thanks

Sorry to hear of your plight "shattered dreams".

This is easy shattered.

Visit your neighborhood Buddhist temple.

For a donation (money in a sealed envelope) an experienced Monk should be able to negate the curse.

how much should i give? and also there is the language barrier - I doubt the local monk will speak english! i really don't know how to go about this.

If there is a suitable place for this anybody knows of here in Bangkok, please let me know!

Thanks

The only person keeping this alive is you and your choosing to believe in it.

If you want to spend money to give yourself peace of mind I'd suggest going back to Yangon and offering the old lady money to take it off.

Unfortunately this is Thailand.

I have witnessed it first hand.

It involved seeking a Monks assistance to help a trapped spirit move on.

The envelope was stuffed with baht and placed in the Monks Alms bowl.
This was the head Monk of a Bangkok Monastery.

My Thai friend, completely experienced with a Monks services, complied with the offering.

The spirit in question was that of a murdered young woman who was trapped in the hotel where she died and couldn't pass on to the next life.

Are there any Burmese temples or monks in your area you could seek advice from?

I would be surprised if a purely oral curse arising from bad behaviour would carry much weight.  Usually if someone wants someone cursed they contact a shaman, pay them, and a ritual including significant objects takes place.

I doubt your girlfriend's behaviour warranted much more than a good "cussin'" and that's what the crone gave you.  Any bad luck since then would be unrelated, but a visit to a worthy monk may put your mind at rest.  A Burmese monk might have a better idea of what actually happened.

Yes, Burmese monks seem to have a better handle on these getting rid of evil spirits type of thing, not really sure why.

If your in Bangkok, go down to Chinatown, ask for one of their holy men or woman they floating around dow there.  The Chinese have a better handle on those good and evil spirits than the Thai's do.  There's this person called a "khao-song", not sure on the spelling.  A kind of witch doctor.  Keep me informed how it goes, ok?

If one believes in Buddhist realms as being actual states or dimensions of existence rather than mind states within one lifetime, then why can't a curse (invoking the power of those who inhabit hell or hunger realms) be real?

Why would someone curse you for the actions of another?

This is no joke guys. Since I last wrote I've been diagnosed with cancer of a very rare kind. Doctors are pretty much clueless and now I feel totally alone in my fight to beat my multiplying medical problems. Despite having seen the so called best in Thailand, the cancer was only found because I insisted that they remove tissue and do biopsy on it.

For the same reason santa claus cannot be real - common sense!

I am sorry to hear about your illness - but there is no logical basis that the cause of this is the so called curse.

I can help you but first of all you need to understand my explaination. It may take time but I try to explain to you in a simplest manner.

Firstly, you have believed in the curse and that(your belief) caused the rest, not the old lady's curse. If anyone can make any curse effective, there is no need for violence or war or any political struggle.
It's all placebo effect. That is how prayers work, in all religions, especially those god-believing ones.
Due to your belief in the old lady's curse, you have created some bad energy to your body which is bad for health and that prompted your sickness to appear. Cancer takes years to develop, so nothing to do with that curse. Likewise this bad energy can also cause other things to go wrong. This is a big topic, you won't understand easily.
As for the cancer, do not fear or worry. If you believe and worry over it, it will worsen your health.

Just think and behave positively and act thankfully to it(now this is difficult but much easier than doing meditation or understand Buddhism). Tell yourself, thanks to the cancer, you are awaken and aware of your poor or bad lifestyle in the past that caused it. Now, change your lifestyle and you may not only be cured but also have better mind and life in the future.

Now the choice is yours, will you want to believe in bad faith and wait for the worse or believe in me, understand it so that your placebo effect will create the good energy to improve your health ? If you get a monk to do prayers for you, it works the same way. Your belief caused the placebo effect to work but not the chanting or power of the monk.

I have helped a lot of people with problems like you. If I can see you in person will be better but it's ok as long as you understand my above message. PM or continue with me here. Let me know more of your sickness condition, I will try my best to help you.

What happen to him now ? Is he dead or so sick that he cannot log-in ? It's rude of him not to reply when others are showing concern for him.

Once you've given advice you really have to let it go.  Let the OP deal with it as he feels best and to the best of his ability.
