A week ago, I made a smooth transition from Windows 7 to Ubuntu... So I am a novice with Linux!

Everything was doing fine, until yesterday when I started to get a pop up with a key symbol in the upper left hand corner and a message saying:

Authentication Required,

You must log in to accessxxxx@gmail.com:443/New mail feed

Password ________

Forget password immediately

Remember password until you log out

Remember forever

I have tried numerous things to rid myself of this annoying pop up; for example, filling my password in many times, trying to change the password there or leaving the new password box blank... Nothing works... Anything else I can do to fix this problem?
I'm using 11.10 if that matters.

I've just get rid of the gmail notifier
