Tension is growing

After the weekednds results (which include a rather disapointing 0:0 of St. Pauli at home to Braunschweig), things can hardly get any more exciting in Germany's second division.
The Top 5 teams of Fuerth (6:2 winners over Bochum), Frankfurt (lost at 4.th placed Parderborn 2:4), St. Pauli, Parderborn (see Frankfurt) and Duesseldorf (0:0 at home against struggling Aachen) are no only divided by 2 points, with 1860 Munich being only 4 points back.

The top 2 teams will be promoted to the Bundesliga, while the 3rd placed from the 2nd Division has to play the 16th of the Bundesliga in a showdown (home and away).

It wasn't the best of match days for St. Pauli.
4 of the top- teams scored (more or less) comfortable victories, as the Hamburg club drew 1:1 at 1860 Munich.
St. Pauli went 1:0 ahead after 31 minutes through a penalty by Bruns and managed to hold on to that lead until the 88. minute, when sloppy defending led to
the equalizer.
These two points lost could get costly in the end.
In the league- table, St. Pauli is now 5th, with 3 points less than the leaders.

The "Englishman abroad" saves the day for St. Pauli!
Ex- Fullham player Moritz Volz and his 40th minute goal proved to be vital for the "Kiez"- club last night in the Monday match against struggling Karlsruhe.

The southerners put on an excellent defending tactics that left St. Pauli with few chances.
One of them fortunately converted into a goal and 3 points for the hometeam.

The battle for promotion is still raging wild, with only 3 points seperating the top 5 clubs. St. Pauli is currently in 4th place.
