Where in Thailand, either Bangkok or Chiang Mai can you purchase fishing tackle, in particular fishing rods including fly fishing rods.
Any tackle stores you would reccomend?
Cheers,
Damo.

No fly rods or reels, but 300 meters both ways from On Nut BTS station there are nice shops for spinning and baitcasting equipment. They seem to be the same company as the guy in the long existing shop gave me the card for the location of the new shop.
Tae fishing shop has a decent selection of fly reels and line, along with quite a few (mostly second hand) fly rods. Their selection of flies is pretty sparse. The shop in Bungsamran has some good prices on some fly reels but no fly rods that I have seen. Two small shops on the Soi to the right of the KFC in Klong Thom Market in Chinatown (that's right as you're facing the KFC) sometimes have some fly tackle but it's hit and miss and not at all comprehensive. There are several nice small fishing tackle shops in the aquarium section of Chatuchuk market, but no fly gear to speak of. So far, I haven't found a comprehensive shop for fly fishing tackle in Bangkok so please post back if you do find one. Edited by impulse, 2011-12-30 09:20:39. #5Posted 2011-12-30 09:36:10
I was told about this one, but have yet to visit. I believe there is another store within 100 metres of the Rangsit store. http://www.fishing-g...ms.php?id_cms=4
I am aiming to go there in a few weeks when I get back to Bangkok. If any experience please advise. Cheers #6Posted 2011-12-31 12:36:03
Not Thailand but in Singapore there is a dedicated fly shop but it's small so best to contact them first just to make sure they have what you are looking for. If your new to fly fishing and buy a rod Henry will likely walk across to the green opposite and give you a casting lesson.
