Hi All,
I'm off to Thailand next week for a two month stay. I was thinking about buying travel health insurance but wondered if it might be cheaper and easier if I get it after I arrive. I know that BUPA offers a Sunshine policy for farangs staying less than 6 months. Does anyone have any experience with this policy, especially how much it costs? I went to the BUPA site but they only list what it covers. Premiums are strangely absent.  Thanks. #2

I have no ideas what policies are available in Oz but in the UK you can buy long stay policies from various insurers for periods up to 12 months (or even 18 in some cases) dependent on age. These offer repatriation back to your home country and usual travel insurance cover. You also have a clearer idea of what you are buying as can qualify it before you go and you are covered for the initial journey which you would not be if you bought in Thailand after arrival. worldwide insure, nomads and DUinsure are examples - there was an earlier thread mentioning DU but not sure if I have the name correct. |
