7. material is too thin
6. fake pockets - I hate those
Quote Women's clothing manufacturers, on the other hand, seem to believe women can't be trusted with pockets. Something like 99 percent of dresses have no pockets at all, and the more formal you get, the more likely a women's coat or pants pocket is going to be a fake, decorative pocket.
5. too cold (ie weird collars, doesn't cover much and, yes too thin)
4. sizes are random-- this quote says it all
Quote
Women's pants sizes, and clothing sizes in general, are meaningless, arbitrary numbers that come, as far as I can tell, from having kittens bat around a 20-sided die.
3. t-shirts aren't regular
2. clothes that need instructions to even wear
1. too much trendy stuff-no more timeless stuff
Its a good article and all true! The sizing issue is ridiculous and it means you must try on every single item of clothing to make sure it actually fits

My wife unfortunately subscribes to the Yarm Yasothorn style

I've worked in a clothing retail environment for many years and I did ask that question to a person
with more experience. They said the sizes small, medium and large were not really based on a specific
number. People in the 1960's who wore a medium or large whereas today, it would most likely be small and medium for the same person today.
Since people are larger today, the sizes for small medium and large have been adjusted. Back in America, my shirt size was large whereas here in Asia it becomes Triple X large. But, I'm still the same size when I left America.

The less and thinner material the more expensive they are.

if it had to do with time periods I could understand but I can wear either a 4 or a 6 in pants (trousers for our British friends) and sometimes even an 8, all in the same store. Different designer or manufacturer and the sizes can range that much. Its more than a little annoying. Sometimes I have to take 3 pairs of the same pants into the dressing room to see which size will fit.

On my shopping jaunts with the other half, I tend to think that you can compare Mens and Womens cloths to coffee vessels. Men chose a mug; will use it fora long time hopefully without breaking it, wash it lots and eventually it will go to the back of the cupboard replaced by something new, but will come out when all the other mugs are in the wash. Women chose a paper cup; use it once or twice, then it gets discarded and replaced. The mugs are more expensive in short term but over the life time work out a lot cheaper. The paper cup manufacturers, realising they only need to last for a few outings, make them weaker and thus are cheap as well. There are lots of places selling ladies mugs, but they are often shunned by women as being too expensive and not stylish (that minute). Anything Stylish is expensive and good quality. Anything fashionable is cheap and bad quality.

From what I've seen, at least here in the USA, is that the ladies "paper cups" are in fact more expensive than the mens "mugs!" When I have been out shopping with some of my female friends I am often shocked at the prices that they have to pay for some items.

The only thing I can think of that AdamBanks is referring to is Primark in England, cheap and trendy. Otherwise, most everything else is rather expensive, either trendy or classic unless in Thailand shopping at cheap markets.

Don't know what that shop is, but if the quality of their clobber is on a par with the majority of the rubbish found in Central world and Platinum alike, then the analogy holds. The only difference between the expensive and the cheap stuff is the quality of the material and the brand name attached to it. The work man ship is shoddy at best because it only has to last 2 or 3 outings at best.

the less material and the lacier it is, the more expensive it gets.. personally, i buy most stuff if at all in the markets: which mostly has clothes that in the states would be considered 'slummy' or 'ethnic minority/not WASP/sorority' style, or i dumpster shop/go for second hand stuff (not vintage second hand, just second hand ).
i also find it very annoying that there are no pockets in our uniforms at the hotel, the men have pockets. all the girls sports stuff dont have pockets. my eldest buys mens pants for that very reason, she needs pockets at work.
to save time and energy, when i try stuff on -if im buying clothes or shoes- if i find something that fits, i buy many in different colours (unfortunately in jeruslaem most colours are limited to bordeax, blue, black and dark, even in summer) of the same thing; but dont use all at once, so i sort of renew closet in steps. i also have been buying stuff from the same store for 20 years, when they have sales, i first check the price, then buy whatever i can tolerate as far as colour or design.
getting second hand is more fun as i get stuff i normally wouldnt choose or buy, but surprisingly enough, fits me and is different then most of the stuff being sold (since everyone here wears the same things more or less).
also, if its more complicated then pulling it over my head, buttons, and rarely, a zipper, i wont buy it.
israelis only do trendy. none has style. plus here anything that is classic is probably worn by religious women and therefore i would be labelled religious just by wearing it (like wearing a knee lenght plain skirt and jacket).

I hate that sizes vary from shop to shop!!

Why do men's shirts and women's blouses have buttons on opposite sides? Baffling!

To avoid cross-dressing by mistake which some religions classify as sin (Deteronomy 22:5 in Christian Old Testament for example.)

So you're saying its a Jewish conspiracy? Who'd have thunk it?

That particular thing in ladies clothes which makes them ask "does my bum look big in this?" I thought only Western women asked that question, but same same in Thailand.
Going clothes shopping with a woman is very difficult, just for this reason.
Can I ask if there is truly one woman out there who has never asked this question of her partner?
