thanks for the photos. i rode Enfield in India when i was travelling there. Nostalgia. What a potter. You need to tighten up the screws every 3000 km:))) otherwise you might drop some part while riding. And do not expect to see something from the mirrors. Still it was fun and torquey. I should be interested on it if they can sell it for 140,000. I need something classic for commuting to my work only on Fridays and Saturdays - which is a casual day for us - as i am climbing the corporate steps and my boss is complaining that my bikes are too sporty for a director!!! - a cbr 250 is too sporty ?? ) don't make me laugh - buy a car and grow up man, he says:))) they make it nearly mandatory for me to buy either a car or a classic bike. which in that case of course a classic bike although i do not like it too much. still i prefer to die than riding a chopper kind of bike so Enfield is still fine. I am excited to see the bike show this Saturday.
If you want classic looks but modern day reliability and aren't afraid to pay for it I recommend you visit the Triumph display and have a look at the Bonneville-

and Thruxton-

Great bikes and you'll never need to get your hands dirty to keep them running
Still, if the price is right, I think it would be brilliant fun to potter about on a Royal Enfield

Thanks for the pics!! The MV Agusta The Honda 1000RR looks good too but that rear light/ plate holder They could have thought of a better way IMHO Aprilia always beautiful too Thanks
Seems most manufacturers throw those ugly fenders on kind of as an afterthought, and only because they're required for the bikes to be road legal, but most folks ditch them first thing and they're usually designed in such a way as to be very easy to remove

I don't think an Enfield will make your boss happy. You will certainly get your hands dirty on such a bike. If you think about an Enfield you should maybe better change your job. Your boss may meant you should get a BMW or an other status symbol. I am happy i do not need to care about such things. I can go on dreaming of an Enfield. But only if they are sold below 200k. For 140,000 Baht i would buy one for sure and then reassemble it on my own to be sure all screws are tigthten properly
The latest Bullets tend to be more reliable. I ran a Bullet Thunderbird in India for 2 years and nothing dropped off, and the newest bullets are now unit construction!!
But in India the Bullet costs about the same as a D-Tracker, whereas here it's more than a Versys. I like the 500 Classic, but the price will need to come down before I get one.

Wow, the Bangkok Bike Festival just keeps getting bigger and better!
While a few brands were noticeably missing, there were also some new brands making a first appearance as well as an ever growing list of vendors, so definitely worth a visit.
Aprilia RSV4
Tony, thanks for the pics. Was it mentioned if there is an Aprilia dealer in Thailand / website?

Stu, I would lose a nut for a current model RSV4. Stunnng bike. Love the engines and the race technology electronics fitted for the street.

I'm heading there tomorrow (Friday) is there a section where us bikers can park up our bikes?
I've never acctually parked my bike in / under Central world, i'd just like to know before i start trying to park my bike somewhere i shouldn't
Posted 2012-02-02 22:17:39
Yes, there is motorcycle parking available in front of the beer garden, just after you pull in from Rama 1. There were a lot of sweet bikes parked there Wednesday night. The parking area is a show in its own right.

@corporate drone loserlazer: I thought about this - what bike would be "corporate"? I think you can't go wrong with a Ducati Monster.
Triumph classic bikes maybe too but in nearly any movie where you see smartly dressed people riding bikes (not that there are that many) - it's a Ducati. A Royal Enfield... too out there, you're never going to make it like that!

bigbikebkk: man thruxton is the best choice for my corporate bike quest. nice bike, but it will be too much for me for now tossing 500,000 something and i have a sweet time with my Enfield back in India when i was travelling/freaking there. Nostalgia you know.
nikster: ducati monster is so red man - i know there is a black version - and it is sporty as well especially the new model. old models might work though still hard to find a legitimate one here in Thailand.
I am not a great fan of classic bikes. I rode some but i never owned one.
and i am sure the new models of Enfield bikes are much more reliable now so you do not need your hands dirty like before. still 330,000 thb is ridiculous - fourfold price - as it is only around 2000 USD for 350 and around 3000 USD for 500 in India man!!
thanks guys for your advices and hope to see you some of you in Bike show.

And bought a few things while there too
DSC_9565.JPG 400.36K
21 downloads Some boots for the girlfriend, she wanted these, not the most protective boots in the world but better than her high heel shoes she insists on wearing.... :S
Also bought some de-greaser, thought i'd give Motoplay's stuff a try, 240B
DSC_9567.JPG 389.56K
25 downloads Bought myself a pair of Glover gloves from Panda Rider's stand, 7400B - 6400B - 5000B, for 5000B i could of got some Alpinestars gloves but i really liked the look of these ones plus they have carbon instead of the plastic that the 5000B Alpinestars were offering, i just like the bling of carbon, both plastic and carbon reinforcements offer equal protection.
DSC_9568.JPG 330.5K
19 downloads It was time to treat my girlfriend again, last month a nice jacket, this month a bargain of a helmet, 3500B! Great little helmet for that price.
Fortunately on the way home my tang bag swallowed up her old helmet and all my camera gear but boy ohh boy what a pain in the ass it was getting back home (Latkrabang)

Great deals by our sponsor Shark at the show on Helmets, I have the RSI D-tone Hologram, its a great helmet that actually fits and has very low wind noise.
