I've ordered a new hard drive for my iBook G4 and understand that it's a difficult one to install.
Has anyone performed this procedure?
Any advice on a trustworthy installer (my preference!)?
The machine is in Chiang Mai.

iBook G4.
That device is simply NOT designed to exchangeable hdd's its hell of a job. But not too difficult to do ifixit.com has a very good manual on doing that. I changed alot of parts on ibooks, actually not so big of a problem, just alot of steps until you get there. #3Posted 2012-01-30 07:29:14
Yeah bring it to Mac Zone in Central KSK they'll do it for you for either 800 or 1000 Baht. Make sure you back up all data first. Also, get a full hardware report with system profiler and maybe even with Apple Hardware diagnostics if you can find the DVD. That way you have proof of what worked and what didn't if they screw up.
If you do it yourself be prepared to take the entire machine apart ... it's not for the faint of heart. Not worth it IMO. |
