Hi,
I have an 8 month old daughter with my Thai partner. We are not yet legally married.
I understand that there is a Child Allowance of Bt 15,000 when calculating your personal Income Tax. However, I have been told that I cannot claim this as I am not officially recognised as the father, as I am not married to the mother.
The birth certificate states me as the father and my daughter has my surname. I understand about the parental rights issue when being unmarried, but does that apply to personal tax allowances also?
Many thanks

I am not married, my name is on BC, my son has us citizenship, have not "legalized fatherhood", but I have claimed the deduction and all I used was a copy of the thai BC.

Thanks for that. I will submit the birth certificate and see what happens.
