I blame the crash of the Irish economy and the austerity measures that have been put in effect...they thought they were rich but found out they are poor as they always have been, so, as a people, they're under allot of stress right now. I blame low cost airfares and the welfare state that allows morons to travel more than 10kms from their house. #52

The way I read it, 2 clowns were drunk off their ass, got dam_n lucky that they were refunded their bar fines for the girls who wanted nothing to do with them, and then came back more than once to cause trouble with Thai people.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Some people don't like being picked on by a mob and will retaliate. It's quite telling that there are four victims here and only two suspects. It seems to me like the usual situation where a mob attacked a couple of people but this time the mob lost the brawl. That's right. Blame the 'Thai mob' Read the story. The Irish returned to get their money back. The owner gave them their money. They weren't satisfied for some reason, caused more ruckus and assaulted two customers in the bar. Staff and motorcycle guys came to aid of bar owner. The Irish left. The bar was shut down and owner of bar takes two unidentified victims to hospital. The two farangs then returned to the bar and started the brawl with the 4 Thai guys who had probably forced them to leave after the money was refunded And oh yes...it was the farangs who came with a knife. Why don't you read the facts before posting? Um yep you should try that "According to the bar owner, Delaney who seemed badly intoxicated, followed the girl back to the bar and angrily demanded his money back. The bar owner quickly complied to Delaney's request but that did not calm him down." Facts According to whom? Refunds are always easily forthcoming in Thailand yes? I know there are exceptions, but living here 20 years I have never seen a problem in a bar that was not initiated by a drunk client.
If a man pays a barfine it is to take the girl out of the bar. The moment he and she step out the door, it's it. It's not a refundable 1y warranty purchase in Harrods. If she runs away, it's a problem between you and her. Complain to the bar owner, fine. Enough complaints, and the bar owner will have to consider if it's good business to keep her. The girls are in a vulnerable position, physically weaker, sometimes with drunk men. They are very entitled to say no and bail out. Where did the knives come in? If the Irishmen carried them to the scene I'd jail them for a very long time. #63

Its during this milking process when they delude themselves that they have done humanity a great service in rescuing this poor girl from her terrible fate. They start to really hate their own people, something Thai people never do. This " Thai'er than Thai" delusion is very common and some start to taken themselves far too seriously. All very well until the money runs out and they go home broke with their tails between their legs. I think thats where the term "Land of make believe" comes from. We don't know what happened. I suspect, but don't actually know, that there is a lot more to this than first appears. But my experience, and many others here, is when taxi or tuk tuk guys are involved there is trouble. Too many foreigners, especially in Phuket, have been murdered and savagely beaten by thugs who are cowards that fight in numbers....never one on one. They are lucky to be in one piece after this. #72

it's one of the oldest tricks in the book for a bargirl to agree to go with an out of it punter only to slip off as soon as he has paid and is not looking...them girls are the root cause of this... also I would hazard a guess that the irish/scouse fellas are probably from gypsy stock so they will fight till they have no more fight in them...difference is between them and the thais is they will fight when the odds are against them...the thais will never do that. The fact was at least one of them was carrying a knife, that was bad enough but they used it also.
