Was wondering if anyone have experience with this and could guide me on how to downgrade the sat nav software so that it could work with the Thai / SE Asia system. Thanks.

Hi, I'm keen on the new Range Rover Evoque. Went to the showroom (grey importer) and they quoted a good deal on the price. Only trouble is that the sat nav system loaded on this one is not suitable for Thailand. Official Rover dealer has the same problem apart from not yet having the Evoque in stock.

No solution that I know of yet, but if you do find one, please post here - I'm sure my wife would like to have it working in her SD4.

MoonRiver, the grey dealer promised new software suitable for Thailand will be ready by May. Will update if I hear something from him.

Yeah I have my doubts too. But not having sat nav is not really a deal killer for me as I like that car.

Yeah I have my doubts too. But not having sat nav is not really a deal killer for me as I like that car. The wife's car normally has at least 2 or 3 people with ipads (with at least one cellphone acting as a hotspot), so in-car navi and entertainment is a lot less useful than it was a few years ago, but yes, it's pretty crappy have a non-functional feature in a car, especially when you've given the gov't all those taxes to own it. Unfortunately It's par for course at this level of the market in TH though - still waiting for working factory GPS in my Cayenne too (approaching a year now). #7Posted 2012-02-03 17:41:08

I would gladly pay 5k Baht for a DVD copy of working sat nav in the Evoque. MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche and LR have been using HDD based systems rather than DVD for quite some time now and unless there is sufficient volume in the local market, in the case of Audi, Porsche and LR you won't been getting much help anytime soon. As for MB and BMW, it has been a very simple coding of software for the grey imports ever since the cars from MB TH and BMW TH have had Nav installed. However you may care to check the following link which is a half way measure as the mapping maybe not the best, although not exactly for an Evoque, Audi, Porsche and VW owners might be happy. It certainly is worth the call to them. www.newgenerationsupply.com #10Posted 2012-02-03 20:19:59

Hey Woodsie, thanks for that. I will certainly check them out. You're most welcome PG and MRO, I am drinking beer as well! However on a more serious note I have been chasing a solution to this issue for quite sometime as it does have quite an impact on my income! Cheers to all. |
