I have been coming to Nakhon sawan on and off for over 3 years and in that time I have grown to love it so much, I am so glad I decided to settle here.
I did look elsewhere before deciding to put my root down but nowhere did I feel so at home, I can understand why they call it the Heavenly City, its sheer bliss.
An alternative name, apt really would be UTOPIA, nothing else comes close although there are places close that might aspire non has the genteel atmosphere on the one hand with the hustle and bustle of a businees centre on the other, a happy mix and a great destination which luckily most travellers have yet to discover so lets keep it that way, if I had my way I would have huge boards on the approaches to the city saying "Welcome to Utopia!"

Don't hold your breath 'that's the thing you lot call wheezing' on the beach bit that is, as they are letting the water out in Tak big time. That's to try and help you lot out when it N/S flood's this year as sure as egg's are egg's it will do.
I read several time's exeter's post. All I can say is it's very sad but I think he's lost the plot, He's not the Farang peep's that was on the front page of the BKK Post yesterday that was sitting on a curb clad in a strait jacket dribbling & muttering to himself by any chance.
N/S Utopia, I happen to know of a good Doctor in BKK that might be able to help out but I think exeter is past the point of no return. Oxygen might help out give it a try Dave, it's either that or in a few month's N/S could be down to only one Farang.
Thank's for the laugh anyway going to put your post in the K.P.P news under the heading N/S peep's crack's up big time.
Where were you thinking of putting the advert about N/S next to the one that's already there that show's the air quality that by the way always read's - something. Please correct me I'm wrong but not to long ago according to Thai spring News was -7 the worst air pollution there is. Even Bang Na BKK the worst place for same in BKK has never had it that bad.
We the Upper Crust's are all having a rethink on the food parcel's we normally send there every year, seem that they are not helping one jot, Oxygen tank's now there a though.

Right, sorry to be the purveyor of bad News but I would like to warn all the peep's that live in N/S or any that might want to venture that way, for the love of me cant understand why, maybe if you get lost.
The BKK Post today's headline's To-Wit Govt place's flood battle before crops.
Two third's of the way through it state's that they the Government is going 'read has' designate flood plane's, of up to 2, Mil: Rai of land will be used for flood water retention Pitsanalok, Phichit, and NAKHON SAWAN. WILL be used as catchment areas.
Seem's to have put a bit of 'damper' pun intended on the renaming of N/S to Utopia some what, What. Oh here's a thought maybe you can call it after that film Water World. If I remember right that was a catastrophe as well.

Nakhon Sawan does have its good points. Yet it also has negatives. Utopia? Far from it IMHO.
Pro's.
Cheap housing / accommodation. Good markets. Friendly people. Good restaurants. Friendly BiB (generally). Plenty of sexy ladies. Good TukTuk & m/c taxis. Sawan Park is good. Plenty of good bars etc if you like Thai music. The best Chinese New Year celebrations in Thailand. Friendly staff.
Good roads out of there
Cons.
Dusty. Very few pavements (You cannot really walk anywhere.) You need a car or a motorbike to get around. Black soot for months when the sugar harvest & burning takes place. Very little English music. Floods every year. Electric off often. Too little English spoken.
I used to like that place until I moved around a lot to other parts of the country. After 1 year away I went back. So dusty and very hot. Stacks of rubbish / rubble piled at the side of some main roads. Little to do at all in the daytime.

Even out her at the edge of the jungle we are going to do our bit for those lower class of people in NS.
Land and houses will be sacrificed (as well as black chickens at midnight) as this year we will be building a dam across the might Klong Klung.
Last week it was almost 2cm deep and a couple of metres wide but after Thursday night's thunderstorm and more rain last night it has tripled in depth and doubled in width.
Last year at the height of the rain it was nearly 4 metres deep and 50 metres wide in places.
Compensation will apparently be paid in large amounts.

Cricket is dreadful today, just like KPP(Nuts). Arsenal on the other hand have just sent Blackburn packing ( www.vipbox.net) I think all the geriatrics in the province directly to the north of N/S ( cant remember the name without the Bangkok post) probably support that other lot from north London who did very well in 1961( ). As the man from Edmonton used to say..........good game.....good game!
Nakhon Sawam-UTOPIA mmm certainly has a ring to it what and no hunting here, it was banned in sympathy with Tony B, thery might have a one off if he turns up or his chum Golden ( where has all the gold gone?) Gordon, down the golden beach and into the river with them!
For those who say, they can find nothing to do here all I can say is I do not have enough time to do everything, where its promenading around Big C or waving to the crowds down Sawanvittee ( as the BIB escort my Limo ), down the local Wat for special session of Hows your father , I am sorry that should be Housey Housey, winner takes all or pick of the chicks and there are some great ones here.
I really must come north, incognito, one day and see what all the fuss is about, see these so called magnificient beaches, clean air, stunning broads and hunting types on hobby horses, but, I expect I would then wake up and find out I been asleep all along, KPP is just a nut place Quick back to the safety of N/S!!!! Home of the superstar 7-1, 7 bloody 1..........................

Home of the superstar 7-1, 7 bloody 1.......................... So to put it in a nut shell Bingo and walk round Big C. But look on the bright side in a few more month's you can go and watch the flood water rising.
Have had a word with the Red X and between us we have come up with a cunning plan, in August they will be delivering tent's to K.P.P the local's will erect same and set up some field kitchen's. Yingluck will organise the bus's as yet not to sure how many, but they will run round the clock ferrying all hopefully from N/S. Women and children first naturally, followed by Thai men and last but not least the Farang that's if there's any left. Any found dribbling or muttering 'most' will I'm sorry have to be left to fend for themselves.
All the peep's can stay till the flooding around their house's/field's in N/S has subsided. Local band's will entertain most evening's.
As you will ascertain this is a program in progress and more thing's will be added as required. To include MAYBE a visit by the local hunt, you might even be allowed to touch the horses, Tip stay well clear of the Irish Wolf hound's though.
There is just one proviso under no circumstances will ANYONE be allowed political asylum. All will have to return to what ever's left of the home's, If per chance their place's have been washed away the lone of a tent might be allowed.

KPP, pesticide city sounds more likely! You should errect those boards with skull and cross bones on to warn people not to cross on account of damage thats caused by rampant farmers burning sugar canes with quick burn powder. KPP is the only place I have heard of that has life guards but no sea, river or beach, not surprising the railway gave it a wide berth.
Last night I sat out on my balcony, sipping my tequila sunrise and enjoyed the silence apart from the night life ( frogs the oners with webbed feet ) and gazed at the stars, yes crystal clear that must have surprised you, the air was as clear as an elephants eye and the moon shone romatically over the countryside, yes its heavenley here all right and non of that banned hunting twaddly what do you bother to get dressed up for? What do you hunt up there and dont say peeps from N/S they are 2 clever for you up class twits!
Back to the balcony, relax and think of the ODI coming up the tests are lost I fear, black armband stuff

Today is a spanking day for a stroll along the N/S promenade, north west side od the river bridge, ghosh it is really spiffing, done a grand job and more than ahandful of super places to refuel along the way, it free for all Sawanians but if the BIB catch anyone from over the border without a valid ticket then its curtains for you so be warned, no riff raff allowed. Ignorance is not the better part of valour. I might be able to provide tickets for suitable visitors who have the correct papers, and dress code. Clean underwear, no odd socks or shoes. Bowler or top hats are optional, No knotted hankies, flags of KPP or buckets and spades. Letter from doctor stating recipient does not dribble when refueling.
Well time for a bit of strolling, think I have to take the salute at a march past today! So much happening here in N/S, best sit down and catch my breath

Re us upper crust's or anyone wanting to enter N/S, you'll be pleased to hear that there a little thing called the bypass that's the road everyone use's, not only does it cut orrrf several km it save's the Limo's from getting covered in greasy grime.
To round orrrf I must state that I have been to N/S on several occasion's and every time the place doesn't improve. So please inform me the last time you had some smog free air BKK maybe or even at the N/S Bus station/car park at Big C.

Last smog free day, today and the By Pass was for KPP folk to turn right or left depending on which you are going so they would not have pass through the "Heavenly City" and be embarassed by how backward KPP is compared to the HC.
Also as you lot are bunch of cheapskates you make no contribution to the local economy, some folk from up wind, we know when you are coming, cannot even find Tesco's! ( they dont give double green shield stamps on tuesdays anymore).
