The GF got her time of the month today but fainted on the way to work. She later went to the doctor who told her she has a problem with her uterus and that it would be difficult for have a baby. She didn't know the name in English but said it was same same Hepatitis. I'm quite worried so could someone please translate this? Thanks

It should be มดลูกอักเสบ which means 'infected or inflamed uterus'.  That doesn't tell you much though as that is rather generic.

Correct, it means inflammation of the uterus. So could be endometritis but might also be endomertiosis, a very different condition (and one more likely to flare uop during her period), Thai physicians use the english terminiology for both but might conceivably use the same simple term when explaining the problem to a patient.

Endometritis is due to infection.  It can be accompanied by infection/inflammation of the fallopian tubes in which case scarring may result which makes it hard to conceive. This is often the rsult of an STI. In women, STIs like gonorrhea and chlamydia are often asymptomatic and this can spread extensively, becoming symptomatic only once there is widespread pelvic inflammation. It need not be a recently contacted STI,  could have gotten it years back.

Endometriosis on the other hand is NOT due to infection and is an altogether different and complex condition in which uterine tissue is present elsewhere in the pelvis and, at the time of menstruation, bleeds creating small "chocolate cysts" of blood which cause pain. It too makes conception difficult, and is more commonly encountered in women who have never had a child.

Neither condition would cause actual fainting but both could cause severe pain from which someone might sort of keel over. Endometriosis would be more consistent with a sudden severe pain at the time of menstruation.

I suggest you write down both "Endometritis" and "Endometriosis" and have her show the doctor and ask which one it is.  In either case she should have further appointments scheduled.

Thanks Sheryl. Neither of them seemed to ring a bell, all she said was the Dr gave her an injection in her arse and told her to let him know if she doesn't feel any better soon. She seems to be all back to normal now.

Sounds very bizarre. What doctor was this/where?

Might be worth bringing her to the Thai Red Cross Clinic, or to a private gynecologist (as you prefer) for more complete evaluation.

Wondering what shots are required to be injected in the gluteus?  Believe Hep-B and penicillin are two.

Could me many things. A wide range of antibiotics (but would also have been given some to take orally) or hormone injection if it were endometriosis.

Or possibly a strong antinflammatory for endometriosis but that is treating only the symptom not the cause
