Yesterday while riding from Choengmon to Chaweng at about 4:30, we had to pull over as a police motorcade came at us from Chaweng.
There was a police motorbike, a police car, a silver 7 Series BMW, a police minivan, and a police pickup - all with lights flashing. They must have stopped all the traffic as they came down from the lake road, as riding along Chaweng beach road immediately afterwards was like riding through a ghost town! There wasn't a car for the entire length! Anyone have any ideas who this was? #2Posted 2012-02-06 10:23:08
That was me, was looking for a 7 11

See it loads of times. They just this minute went by my office with Robocop heading the way waving all oncoming traffic to stop. I doubt it is anyone worth knowing. probably some bigwig in the police dept. down for a break and as it is midday more than likely the escort is to take him to lunch. The police here only look semi professional when someone 'they' think is important is here. Makes me laugh actually.

They had a load of Thai flags lining the road near Big Buddha and down to Plai Laem, royalty?

I don't know - it was a pretty sh!tty looking motorcade! Apart from the Bimmer, all the other vehicles were old & dirty. Nothing like the royal motorcade we saw in Bangkok on His Majesty the King's birthday in December. Now THAT was a motorcade!

They had a load of Thai flags lining the road near Big Buddha and down to Plai Laem, royalty? Unlikely. They usually 'clean' the roads for royalty. Also, you tend to get the Bib on every street corner. The flags are probably for the Plai Laem temple fair on the 11th. #8Posted 2012-02-06 13:52:41

There was a man hunt for the tastiest cheese burger in town. someone thought they had found the place so there was a huge cannon balll run to get to it as they only had one left.
Either that or some V.I.P was in a rush to pay their electric before they got cut off #11Posted 2012-02-06 20:44:27

Well,we have someone in here in Pattaya who happens to go buy a pack of butter in foodland twice or trice a day accompanied of 23 of those cars and motorbikes.
They will stop all the traffic along the road and even empty the shop out of customers.Maybe that person moved to a city near you. #15Posted 2012-02-07 08:18:16

I know the old bill were stopping people at bohput traffic lights last night mainly stopping thais. and anyone can buy such excort for the right price anyway....like everything else in Thailand, its not "merit based" #24Posted 2012-02-15 12:01:04
yes i admit it . it was me. i asked for a taxi and they thought i was david beckem. Mistaken Identity. never mind they managed to gain face by laughing afterwards. Nice taxi ride. things went slightly wrong when i got the bill for 28 million baht. small change for mr beckem. funnily enough the location was to a very nice looking thai lady's house in on her own wearing a short skirt in a big villa all by herself.
makes me wonder #25Posted 2012-02-15 17:53:09
Big C 9 days later? wow must have been one ride.
