I can't really get my head around the logistics of getting insurance when buying a used pick-up. I know that I can get compulsory insurance at the DLT, but how do I arrange for comprehensive insurance? I don't want to be uninsured should I have an accident driving the vehicle back home from the DLT.

Sophon contact an agent or Insurance companies when you have found something you are interested in buying. They will check into vehicles insurance history, and thus can tell you number and size of claims. If none, vehicles No Claim Bonus follows vehicle, and they will give you a quote. None will insure without inspecting/photo vehicle make sure an insurance doc is issued when you have paid, and you have valid insurance. some agents just issue you a bill of amount, but actually sits on the money for days, making you non insured until they pay #28Posted 2012-02-22 20:52:08

As you say, no insurance company will insure without inspecting the vehicle, but how can they inspect until I own the car? And I can't/don't want to take out the insurance until I own the car in case the deal falls through. Sophon #29Posted 2012-02-22 21:56:24

Sophon so you take ownership, and then insure, usually done in a day however buying a used car with bad insurance record could cost you 10-15k baht a year next 3-5 years one usually enter a pre purchase/pre sale agreement, sort things like insurance and complete transfer/payment and it is convinient to buy a new car #30Posted 2012-02-23 07:21:23
Insurance follows the car, so normally the car will still be insured when you buy it.
This can be cancelled by the previous owner though. #31Posted 2012-02-28 09:24:21
The company will give you a quote.
Then when you own the car they will send a man round on a bike just to make sure the car is what you say it is. #32Posted 2012-03-03 13:34:27
I am considering a 2008 4 dr Navara, but it doesn't have the traditional front grille.

6 downloadsIs this an aftermarket job or an original Nissan grille? I don't much care for how it looks, so if I bought the vehicle how much would it cost to replace it with an original one? Thanks in advance. Sophon #33Posted 2012-03-03 21:35:19

Sophon This is the after market grille and it looks good, kind of Hammer'ish...I'll keep it,but if want to change,I will start with accessory shops and ask if they have an original laying around...and if they do,they will swap it for a minimal charge. The other option is a Nissan dealer, but much more expensive...again,I'll keep this one Edited by funcat, 2012-03-03 21:45:06. #34Posted 2012-03-04 06:12:44
Twas looking at some new Calibre's in the local Nissan showroom, why do they write half an essay on the front doors? its not as if most of the locals would comprehend!

To me this grille just looks garish, but fortunately people have different tastes. If not the world would be a very boring place I might keep it as it is anyway. The girlfriend like the "big teeth", and I won't be able to see the front from inside the vehicle anyway. And when parked the front will face a wall most of the time.
