This is such a minor issue that I've kept putting off raising it. But several times a week I find myself cursing True with intense loathing because of this minor but persistent irritation. Ever since they installed their ADSL internet my browser ignores my command at frequent intervals and goes running to True's bloody useless (to me) home page. If I was pursuing a link, this often means I have to backtrack to the previous page then click the link again. No big thing, except that it's so frequent. And, in my rage, I yell out, "What f-ing right do they have to interfere with my computer and over-ride my commands?" Truly, it's gross abuse of our trust as customers.

Anyway, leaving off the rant, does anybody know any simple method of slaughtering this nasty bit of malware?

This topic has been raised so many times and there are many threads with solutions.

I used to have the same problem but three or four weeks ago I bought a new ADSL Router and have never had the problem since. The Internet connection has been more stable too.

If so, petedk, I'd be very grateful if you would point me to one of those threads or solutions. A search on True internet produces nothing and one on just True produces altogether too much.

With your personal solution, are you suggesting that the problem lies with the True router?

TOT, 3BB,.... 3BB redirects to their site when I am behind with the bill which is actually pretty useful...

It has come up quite often, I did find this thread with a 5 second search... http://www.thaivisa...._1#entry4769378

I think we need to know the exact make, model of the device. Then we need to get the administrative username and password, then maybe modify WAN connection configuration, or possibly reflash the firmware with a generic version.

I'll look for more threads....hhere are some, there are a lot more, I just took the first handful....

None of these threads contains a reliable method of eliminating this problem -- the consensus is buy a new router not connected with True (though a few people even say that doesn't help).

The consensus also seems to be that it is an intentional part of the firmware in the router, and it cannot be updated as True will not help with identification of model or firmware that will eliminate this annoyance.

It happens to me all the time, and despite reading every thread on it, I have yet to find a workable solution for my "Billion Sky" router.

It's very very very annoying, but I've learnt to live with it.

I apologize, I may not have searched for and sorted through all the relevant threads. I am most certain there have been solutions posted, for many True-branded routers; I just didn't find the proper threads.

Purchasing a new, un-branded router will definitely eliminate this problem.

Can you share the exact make and model of your current router? Please provide as much detail as you can gather: how many ports does it have, what is the brand and model number (look on the bottom, or back), did you get any administrative  details for this router in the package? You may need an IP address to access the router's management system, along with a username and password. Once we have that information we can figure out the next steps. In some cases the router can be re-configured, in others the router firmware can be replaced, and in some cases it may not be possible to modify the router to eliminate this problem.

Lastly, did you install any True Online software, perhaps provided on a CD, or via a download, on your PC?

Well, lomatopo, you certainly showed me that I need some lessons on searching too. Posted Image Thank you. Sadly, though, there doesn't seem to be an absolute consensus at all, and, being technically incompetent, I'm inclined to let the sleeping devils continue to pester unless someone comes up with a clearer and simpler solution (and one cheaper than buying a new modem). Or perhaps find a new internet provider after my current contract completes.

Router? I think 'modem' is what is meant. In any case, another couple of solutions: - complain to True (probably pointless) or change ISPs when your contract expires. In the meantime, I suggest you PM or email Woody Leonard - i anyone would know a solution, Woody would.

Hey crab, this is annoying me as well. About a week ago, I upgraded my ADSL package and got a new Xyxel router from them. All I had to do to get connected was to plug it in. No username or password was ever required. I went to the True shop at Fortune to inquire about this, but all I got was more frustrated. I was directed from one "help" station to another, and all I got were clueless responses.

While it was not possible to disable the 'landing page' in older TRUE routers, the two most recent models I encountered both had the option to disable the landing page. The two routers are:

Zyxel Wifi Router 1.3
Wireless-N 150 Mbps ADSL2+ Router

If you know how to access your router's administration interface (mostly http://192.168.1.1), then search for a menu entry 'landing page' (maybe under 'advanced options').

If you can't find it, then either you didn't look well enough, or your model/firmware does not offer the option to disable that yet.

They got rid of the landing page completely with their new TRUE Broadband service.
