I'm planning to put a canopy on my 4 door Toyota Vigo. I've heard from 3 people with Carryboy that had problems with leaking and the lock mechanism. My Thai friends suggest Sammitr without hesitation. What says you?

What kind of canopy do you have?
What is your opinion on its quality?
What did you pay?
Where is a reliable place to have one installed?

By the way, this is a good web site for viewing many different styles. I'm currently leaning towards the Sammitr SUV Plus V4.

I've had one Carry Boy and two Sammitr. My next one (in a few months) will be a Sammitr as well if they have one ot fit the new pickup. I quality of the Sammitrs I have are much better than the Carry Boy I had. Things may have changed, The Carry Boy was a '99 "City-Boy" model, and both the Sammitr were S-Plus V2. I think they all run about 28-40K depending on haw you get them equipped. If you plan to have a lot of people riding in the back the AC is nice, but you need to watch the warranty. The Isuzu dealer installed the one I bought with the aircon installed.

If you fine a good dealer let me know, I haven't.

slightly off topic, I want a soft cover

this one has a tailor made pvc to fit inside the carryboy roll bar, held by velcro, and it blows off at +140kmhAttached File  IMG_8001.jpg   132.17K   13 downloads

I do not accept any holes drilled in car for buttons

will be no roll bar on my coming BT50 4 door, any suggestions?Attached File  IMG_8001.jpg   132.17K   13 downloads

Not much heavier as the glass makes up a lot of the weight, but four guys can handle either,  it really doesn’t matter much anyway as it’s bolted down and little extra weight in the back of a pickup is nice. Don’t know about the heat, but I think that would have more to do with the color. Also, both are pretty well insulated. My older Sammitr has air conditioning in the back.

Sammitr: I have one 9 years old and one 3 years and I have no rust on either of them. Had to replace the struts in the rear window of the nine year old a few years back, and I’d like ot replace the window seals, but not problems with the newer one yet. Also needed to tighten the fasteners on the back-door hinges a couple times with the older unit until I used a little loc-tite, no problems since. Absolutely no paint peeling on the body-color paint after nine years, but a little of the black “bubbling” on the aluminum castings for mounting the roof rail, but not significant.

Carry Boy: HAD one 12 years ago. Paint cracking and peeling off the roof after a year. Had to replace blind bolts with through bolts in the hinges after two years, works okay but looks crappy. Cracks in fiberglass around most all holes and fasteners and paint cracking and peeling everywhere after three years. Paint probably not Carry Boy’s fault, but the cracks in the fiberglass and the hinges and brake light falling off repeatedly until bolted through is.

On the paint, it is most always easier to get a coat of paint to stick well to steel then to fiberglass.

Buy whatever you think looks good and bee happy with it.

I got a Sammitr SUV Plus installed. The local price was exactly the same quote I got in Bangkok from a couple businesses that install canopies and from Sammitr headquarters. So far no complaints but if anyone is reading this in the future and is curious how its holding up, feel free to shoot me a PM.

I put a Super UP on my toyota and eventheough the cost is a bit more It has 4 motors for lift and tilt and just looked sturdier for me. Was done on Bangkok at 28,000 with handles for luggage rack. It took one day to order and install next day, Greeat service as well.
