Hey
Can anyone confirm/ infiirm the following? Age 50/54 a monthly 65,000 baht or a yearly 800,000 baht 54/59 50,000/month or 500,000/year Over 60: 20,000 baht monthly or 200,000 baht per year I also notice that 12x50 doesn't amount to 500 Same goes for the over 60 Thanks #2Posted 2012-02-09 00:50:25
Those aren't the current rules for retirement extensions.
I haven't heard of any changes that have been announced re retirement extensions. Where did you hear or see the kinds of ages and amounts you posted? #3Posted 2012-02-09 00:55:03
It is the SAME for ALL over 50. Do keep in mind though that SOME longer term retirees are grandfathered on their original (lower) financial requirements they started with and will likely be able to keep doing that unless they break the chain of continuous extensions.
The current financial requirements for people entering the system without a grandfathering exception are: 65K baht per month income letter from embassy OR 800K in Thai bank account OR A combination of income letter plus Thai banked money totaling 800K Edited by Jingthing, 2012-02-09 01:02:42. #4Posted 2012-02-09 01:07:11
Hey jingthing
I do not understand what the grandfathering has got to do with my post as this is supposed to be new Also I am fully aware of the rules you have kindly reminded us However I am asking if anyone has heard about it as I have read it in a local French magazine , by local I mean published in Thailand I am not sure I am allowed to disclose the name due to the forum's rules but it was this month's edition Edited by alyx, 2012-02-09 01:08:59. #5Posted 2012-02-09 01:11:25
It is false information you heard. Suggest the thread be closed. No need for rumors here. Also the headline is a problem. People will read that and think there really ARE new rules. No, there aren't new rules. Nothing to see here.
I mentioned the grandfathering because I reckon this poor source you mention got their misinformation from ancient information about OLD financial requirements. Edited by Jingthing, 2012-02-09 01:16:33. #6Posted 2012-02-09 01:16:35
Ok
I will enquire tomorrow directly with the magazine Of course I did not mean it as an information but rather as a question. Trust me I have been quite surprised...also the discrepancy regarding the numbers didn't make it look right Edited by alyx, 2012-02-09 01:20:45. #7Posted 2012-02-09 01:17:45
Ok I will enquire tomorrow directly with magazine Of course I did not mean it as an information but rather as a question. Trust me I was , and still am, quite surprised upon reading it The fact that there are really bad info sources on visa information isn't at all surprising. I have even seen completely wrong info on Thai embassy websites for YEARS after actual changes. Edited by Jingthing, 2012-02-09 01:20:43. #8Posted 2012-02-09 01:24:50
I will
And in the meantime if the moderators feel like suppressing the thread I see no problems at all. If this was a kind of a hoax or a MISTAKE it is better to delete any misleading information Otherwise I will post with a sure positive reply from the verified source Edited by alyx, 2012-02-09 01:25:17. #9Posted 2012-02-09 01:26:50
