I have a Toshiba 660 Satellite from new (yesterday)

Loaded with Windows 7 with IE as Default browser, with Chrome pre loaded as well.

No problems with set up and downloaded Firefox today......Again no problems and worked fine with all websites.

Shut down the computer and now cannot access any websites on firefox although perfectly normal with IE and Chrome........I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled to no avail.

There is a Mcfee Anti virus loaded on computer but has not been activated (yet) as only had laptop yesterday.....

Any suggestions please ??

something is blocking firefox.   is the probem caused by an add on?  disabe any that you have installed and then enable them one at a time to see if the problem reoccurs.

maybe try loading an older stable version and see if this corrects the problem.

Haven't installed any add ons (at least knowingly)

Have tried 2 versions of Firefox on the reinstall...........What about if I remove/uninstall the Mcfee anti virus ??

The problem I see with that is it was preloaded and I assume once deleted than thats it ??

Try using an uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller to do a full removal of firefox, then restart and install ffox to see if it helps

What firewall are you using? I use Zonealarm.  Here each different program can be allowed or denied access, so it's possible to have access denied for eg Firefox, and allowed for IE or Opera etc.

Well the anti virus is Mcfee so assume that forms part of Firewall (remember am no techie)

Im trying to find an icon within Mcfee that perhaps states "allow access to internet" etc ??

Whatever have spent 6 hours overnight without success !

Searching: 'Mcfee firewall access' (no quotes) on Google will bring up more hits.
Good luck.

Thanks to all that responded.

In the end had to delete the Mcfee Anti virus which was pre loaded to rectify the problem

Don't forget to replace it with something else eg Avast and Zonealarm (both free).
