Hi,
The TW handed in her family visit visa today with my stepdaughter, and her mother. we had filled out family visit visas for everybody online and printed them. Got a call from her this morning as someone from the VFS desk told her that for the step daughter we had completed the wrong form, even though here it explicitly says stepdaughter in the family visit visa section. Apparently the problem was she was under 18 (shes 7) but on the online form there is only one option which took into account her age! Anyway im pi**ed off as i believe i did everything that was on the uk gov website and took ages reading everything. Shes handed everything in now so all we can do is wait. The person behind the desk just told her to change to a special visitor form as this was for under 18's (but clearly shes part of our family)... she said they (people from behind the desk) sat her at a computer and let her change the to the other form herself and print it off. sounds very strange to me and charged her 300 bht extra for the privilege.
She has got a visit visa before and knows not to talk or go with anyone else in the building so i dont think she has been scammed.
does any of this sound right? It doesn't to me.
Is this the same as Boycies's case where they have been giving out the wrong advice?
Will report back when now more information. fingers crossed it comes back ok as the evidence we have given in was conclusive IMO.
thanks

the link you have given says you must show that you must be visiting a relative (including stepdaughter in the list). It also says that the applicant must be over 18 years old so I suspect they may be right!
As far as I can see it is a child visit visa that is required for under 18yrs old! Edited by bobrussell, 2012-02-10 21:13:06. #3Posted 2012-02-13 13:30:35
My missus just rang the VFS helpline and they confirmed that in these circumstances you should use General Visitor > Special Visitor > Special Child Visitor (as set out in the online categories)
So I am now quickly re-doing my application to suit, as my stepdaughter is 10 years old Good luck. #4Posted 2012-02-13 13:36:24
Good luck, latest turnaround times are within a week, as per my wifes and mother in laws application.

I doubt the embassy would worry too much she has already been issued a UK Visa previously.
