This SE Asian sub forum used to be a valuable source of info, discussion and a place for members to post various queries regarding other countries in SE Asia. I used to enjoy reading some of the discussions. However, in the last 12 months or so it seems to have been inundated with copious news stories and it appears to be less active.
These news items are far ranging, eg. a plane incident in Singapore to a girls death during an eviction in Cambodia to yet another western facing the death penalty in Malaysia. Some appear of little interest to TV members as they attract no comment at all. However, this is not to be critical of such news posting per se as many TV members undoubtedly enjoy reading such stories, they are a valuable contribution to the site.
However, I do wonder if the overwhelming number of news stories diminishes this sub forum and deters some from posting and discussing other SE asian subjects, usually travel issues. Indeed, I have suggested such to two mods last year.
It seems that it may be more appropriate to divide this sub forum up into two, one for news items and one for members initiated posts and queries? We do have a separate sub forum for Thai news.
Is it a problem? If so is such an idea a possible solution? Your thoughts.....

I've noticed the same thing.
Maybe a separate SE Asia News section like in other parts of TV would help? #4Posted Yesterday, 17:15
I agree. Surprisingly it is one of the quietest sub forums on TV

I'm running this by the mod team and will be back shortly with their views.
