The poll asks about the the English skills of the tourism industry.Not Thai's in general.
I personally think their English skills are abysmal compared to the surrounding Asian countries.
Even when I have been to the  far northern parts of Burma they speak very good English and they are always wanting to practice with you.
I speak and understand basic Thai but I am sick of the stupid screwed up face they pull when you get one little thing wrong.
If a Thai is trying to talk English with me and they mess up a little bit I will help them and try to explain the right way to say it.
I know bar girls with better English standards than some  5 star  resort staff.

Give it a rest. Your constant trolling for debate is tiresome.
Go travel to any neighbouring country and you will see how far behind the Thai people/resort staff are compared to even the poorest 3rd world countries in the region.
Thailand will keep falling behind but will keep attracting the low end market tourism and will suffer at the high end as the standards of service not being up to scratch. ie speaking english.
I guess the thais won't give a crap because the Russian invasion majority don't speak english either.
