I neglected to say that the AEC was set up by the Junta to investigate Thaksin and his government, not just Thaksin alone. Did I miss anything else? Perhaps you can help me out, who else was investigated by the AEC apart from Thaksin and his family?

a sampling for the uninitiated...

The one on the left was was sentenced to two years in prison after a Junta appointed Assets Examination Committee was set up especially to find something to charge him with.
He was also sentenced to two years in prison after his own party took power, after he declared he trusted in the justice system and would respect whatever verdict they arrived at, and after he, via his lawyers, attempted to bribe the judges and failed.

Be fair. Once his attempt to bribe the judges failed no doubt his statement about his faith in the justice system would have become 'inoperable'
