I am not having much luck with finding seamstresses in Chiang Mai, the first lady I tried upon recommendation tended to make everything too large. Then a friend recommended a very good seamstress in Santhitham but apparently everyone has recommended her because it now takes forever to get anything made. So, I am now casting about for another seamstress, preferably one who doesn't take several months to get things made. Someone in town would be best since I live in the city.

The closest thing I know to a seamstress in my area is a guy who sets up a table with a sewing machine on it next to my morning kao ka moo and noodle stall.
edit: I also realize this is not helpful whatsoever. Edited by MaxwellsDemon, 56 minutes ago. #3Posted 20 minutes ago
Try Huay Kaew road, soi 2. There are several seamstress shops next to each other that are open from morning till late evening 9-10PM. When you leave Huay Kaew, soi 2, you will come out to Huay Kaew and you will have a 7/11 on your right. Almost opposite Rincome marked.

there is a lady who sets up on Arak Rd (moat road) right outside the wawee coffee/white chalet hotel- she was ok for I wanted, but it wasnt a dress for me.
Also at the Uni end of sirimangklajarn there are maybe 3/4 of them sitting on the roadside, always busy (next to the roadside bike repairs, fruit stalls, somtams etc) you have to learn that Thai people dont take instruction very well..you have to draw it, colour it in,wave your arms about, then go the next day to check its ok....or they do what they want |
