Today I received two fake PayPal emails.
Warning! Be aware of this email:
Attached File  phony pay pal email.JPG   80.68K   49 downloads

I noticed it as a spoof because:
  • The email was sent to my hotmail account used to collect junk email not to my gmail account registered with PayPal.
  • The sender's address was not a valid domain
  • The artwork in the header is an obvious copy!
  • The links were not valid PayPal links! The links were an insecure http:// link, not a secure htttps// link. They were to a non PayPal domain (linkelserviciodelvino.mx).
If you get this email, Do Not Click on the links!

PayPal take online fraud seriously by investigating phishing emails reported to them.
Follow these steps to report the email:
  • Forward the entire email to spoof@paypal.com
  • Do not alter the subject line or forward the message as an attachment.
  • Delete the suspicious email from your email account.
PayPal will let you know quickly if the email is legitimate. Your vigilance helps protect other PayPal users.

Think before you click! Posted Image

Despite the comments most of these spoofs are well written and will catch out. most people if they do not think first.
Rule of thumb:
ALWAYS when receiving an email requesting you have to go to your account or update details with any company do not use the email links. ALWAYS go to your account site with company and update your account within the site itself if you need to
You will find that very few companies ever ask you to update your account by email.
