I'm an American currently on a tourist visa, soon to be an education visa.
I have several friends that come to visit here in thailand, and they are always renting motorcycles. Would I be able to purchase a couple of motorcycles for them to use when they come to visit and ask that they pay a small sum for the use without me needing a work permit? It could be called renting, it could be called a donation, or maybe they could be paying for a small share of the motorcycle. Are any of those options a possibility?

If you are renting out personal property without advertising and from your home on a personal basis such as this then generally the Labor Office will not expect you to have a work permit.

However, do not advertise nor act as a business.
