I am a US passport holder with a non-immigrant B visa (90 day). Bought a one way ticket through Cathay Pacific and just recently found out about the possibility of being denied boarding by the airline for not having proof of an onward journey. I realize the purpose of proof of onward journey applies specifically to people entering without a visa, however i have read conflicting stories about visa holders still encountering issues by check-in agents at airlines as well as immigration officials.
Could Cathay potentially deny boarding? Is it worth buying a cheap one way ticket to another nearby country just to cover myself?
Any advice with this airline specifically or my circumstance would be much appreciated.
