I just updated my iPad to IOS6 and discovered the local map street names are all in Thai using the app. The new maps use data from Tom Tom. The previous Google maps were in English. Is there a fix for this.

Just read yesterday about lots of complaints in the US about this. Not the language obviously but the quality of the Tom Tom supplied map data. The only solution so far seems to be either access google maps through the browser or use another 3rd party solution like Garmin.

Both of my suggestions have map data covering Thailand. So what's your point?

I would second the suggestion for the Garmin Thailand Street Map (TSM), mostly very accurate and up to date. There is a way to use it on iOS but I am not sure if it works on iOS6.

Yes I agree, there doesn't seem to be a way to change the language setting to English on the new apple maps and I have seen some hotels that appear to have moved several streets over !!

I use the Garmin app on the new iPad and an iPhone 4, which have been updated to iOS6 and it is still working normally. You can input Thai or English depending on the settings and same with the voice directions.

Use free nostra map app. its similar to google maps but even more up to date than google. Apple should outsource Thailand map from them!

Open up maps.google.com in Safari, bookmark it to the home screen. You now have a web app almost identical to the old maps app in iOS.
