Hi All,

I have been offered a 6 month unpaid internship in Thailand.

Once the comapny has sent me a formal offer letter, do I apply for a multiple entry Non-Imm visa or can I do I apply for a student visa?

I have heard even if you are not being paid I may require a work permit, is this likely?

regards

You just apply for a non-immigrant visa, the consulate will decide which kind of visa they will issue.

Foreigners working or volunteering in Thailnd need a work permit or are subject to a jail sentence of up to 5 years and/or a fine of 100,000 baht.

Not sure what the rules are for interns, but you either need a work permit or the internship must be reported to the government and of course be part of your education.

To be recognised as an internship doesn't the university/school etc need to be recognised by the Thai goverment, ie it needs to Thai based, otherwise a WP is required ?

That is the question, and I don't have the answwer to that.

I do know that many reputed international companies have interns from aboraod, but I don't know how they go about it legally.
