Hi guys,

for the moment i'm still in Belgium, there is a Nikon service here but it's about 2 hour drive... and since i'm going to Thailand on 30/6 I was wondering if any of you might know a professional Nikon center to clean out the dust on the CCD of my Nikon D70. :o

Anyone?

Thanks

either

sunny camera trading , 144/23 silom rd. bkk 10050 . 02236-8365

niks thailand , 166 silom rd. soi12 , bkk 10050 .
02235-2939

www.niksthailand.com

both are nikon dealers , i think sunny would outsource any repairs to niks.

i dont know what is involved in cleaning the ccd.

if its a simple 30 second job then they might do it for free.

they (niks) wanted to charge me 1000baht to download a software update onto a coolpix 8400. i went home and got it off the nikon site for free. i thought that 1000b to download an update into a camera was too much.

there is a good camera shop called fotofile on the ground floor of the mah boon krong shopping mall , they would probably be cheaper than niks , who are the official nikon agent in thailand.

but if you want a nikon agent to do the job for you , then go to niks.

Photofile is an excellent shop, and a Nikon distributor, they also speak very good english. A CCD clean (does it really need one) is a job for experts, especially on a D70. I would suggest getting it done with your "two hour" drive before you arrive. Then at least you know you can start using it straight away. Time is another consideration in Bangkok, as they might want it for a day or two.

FYI Its the same company, or should I say same owners.

I was wondering if any of you might know a professional Nikon center to clean out the dust on the CCD of my Nikon D70.

It's quite easy to do your self. Look around on the web and there are some good walkthroughs on how to do it.

Becomes more tricky though not as important when you have dust in the view finder.

If you have int. warranty and bought quite recently they may well do.

Cheers

To check take a pic of a clean white piece of paper. Make sure the lens is clean!

Cheers

Have a look at fredmiranda.com for threads on sensor cleaning. I do my Canon D-60 myself, piece of cake.

To check for dust, stop right down and take an out of focus shot of a plain sky. Load into photoshop (or similar) and do an auto-levels correction. Dust will show clearly.

The Nikon factory is only 100KM north of BKK
Has anyone been there?
Do they offer a consumer service department?
Almost all Nikon cameras are now made in Thailand only
