An MP3 file of the chanting would be useful.

You can also get information from Wat Mahathat (Wat Mahadathu) Section 5 near the Grand Palace
I met Phrasuputh Chainakom (Kosalo) there and got books in both Thai and English from him .... inluding MANY of the chants translated. He also gave me a couple of MP3 discs etc <yes I made a small donation> Strangely we both have ties in Denver Colorado as he was a monk there in the past at the Thai Temple #12Posted 2006-06-08 16:33:59
You might also like to try such websites as buddhanet.net and/or accesstoinsight.org. Both sites are excellent for Theravada sources and point to other websites as well.

Pali/English text and MP3 files are available at BuddhaSasana. Very interesting website, hadn't come across it before. Nice encapsulated explanations of Theravada Buddhism as well. The one by Maung Kyauk Seinn was especially informative. The chanting section reminded me that Thammayut monks at Wat Bowon once told me that in Thailand there is a difference between what monks in the Thammayut sect chant and what monks in the Mahanikai sect chant. I didn't hear what the differences were, but got the impression it was not the words that differed but the selection of verses for morning, evening and fortnightly chanting. #15Posted 2006-06-14 16:03:58
Pali/English text and MP3 files are available at BuddhaSasana. #16Posted 2006-06-14 17:13:49
I can't reach it today either, but I can traceroute to it. Maybe a server problem. Anyway, it's an excellent site. The owner seems to have a great eye for clear, well-written stuff (mostly Theravada) that's ideal for relative beginners.

Does anyone know where online I could find what I need to say for the ordination ceremony?

Can anybody help regards bram001 You learnt it with a thai accent In Pali it's "Nammo Tassa Bhagvato Arahato Samma Sumbuddhasa". The translation we use is "Homage to the Blessed Noble and Perfectly Enlightened One". #21Posted 2008-07-08 12:36:25

It has answered a question that I have had for many years. Once again Thankyou I have attached two images of Buddha, I will get a fuller picture rather than just the torso and head. It may sound strange but he smiles at certain times which is wonderful to see. Kind regards Attached Files#24Posted 2010-09-30 10:08:29
So im 16 i just got back to america from thailand 2 months ago. i studied matteyom 4 in laemchabang for 1 year as an exchange student. i became a monk at a thai temple. for 2 weeks. Wat si vana ( laemchabang -banglamung) i learned to read thai pretty well in 2 weeks because of becoming a monk. it was a wonderful expirience and i woul recomend that anyone who lives in thailand as an expat or for business u should definatly try it.
