I have a previous guest looking to get married in Phuket (both farangs).
She doesn't want a big hotel function room as it is a small party and doesn't want to spend a fortune either. Anyone have any ideas of anywhere that might be suitable? Anywhere on Phuket will do.
She also wants to know whether there's any need to go to Bangkok for any paperwork and formalities.
I haven't a clue!

Best And Worst Views In Phuket
2012-03-21 17:26:47
Khun Chalerm recently stated that most tourists come to Thailand for the scenery, not the night life. So, whet are the most scenic points in Phuket, and to counter that, what are the biggest eyesores.
For me:
Best: Khao Khad, the viewpoint and various places along that road, (though the view I see nearly every day after driving over the hills between Kata and Chalong out to Chalong Bay would be great if it weren't for the cables.
The biggest eyesore has to be the unfinished condos as you enter Patong from Karon.

Water Truck In A Ditch

Sorry, no photo, but did anyone see the Green Water truck in the ditch on Patak Road near Soi Plukjae this morning?
With the rear end in the ditch, the front end out, facing against the traffic, my question is, how did it manage to enter the ditch at that particular angle? Must have been some spectacular loss of control, though it is possible the driver was trying a u-turn, I suppose.

World Of Sport Theme Tune

I heard this tune today on a Thai TV commercial!
For the uninitiated World of Sport was ITV's Saturday sport show on Saturday afternoons in Britain in the 1960s and 70s (maybe a little later).

Another Tuk Tuk Driver Assault
2012-01-01 20:23:47
I've just finished talking to a guest who was assaulted last night by a tuk tuk driver at Karon Circle.
A small group took a tuk tuk from Patong after celebrating New Year. They had asked the driver to drop at Karon Circle and then go onto Karon Plaza at the southern end. The driver went as far as Karon Circle and refused to go any further. they argued, as they had asked previously to go on, and the driver took a baton with a blade out of the compartment and slashed my guest under the bottom of his left ear.
They were not excessively drunk, did not use threatening behavior just argued for what had been agreed, and this was the result.
The tourist police (Thai) called an ambulance and he was taken to Patong Hospital where he received a number of stitches. Of course the tourist police can't issue official police reports so a trip to Chalong is probably on the cards tomorrow. The guest quite rightly wants to report this to the police even though any TV readers will know that it's effectively a waste of time. His girlfriend took a photo of the tuk tuk with numberplate but sadly it didn't come out properly!
Not a lot more to say but I though t I would like to be the first in 2012 to start an anti tuk tuk thread.
