Google Translate is your friend.  It means:

#5320284 Do Not Die In Pai........

Also in SEA in general Herion is cheaper than coke. So when people ask for Coke dealers will give them heroin and pocket the profit. The purchaser then takes a bump and OD's. I know of mre cases of this happening in Cambodia though.

Just another reason not to touch that crap, especially on this side of the world...

Does she often talk to herself, whilst looking out of the window? Posted Image

I don't know how anyone can watch the crap that is Thai soaps...

Refering to oneself in the 3rd person is normal... Don't read into it too much... It doesn't attribute to any kind of personality traits...
Maybe there is something wrong with me that I like watching crap. Anyway, I’ve posted
before that I think they are a great language learning tool. From watching them I did
deduce that women use their own name frequently, men very rarely and no demeanors
or traits should be read into it. Here is an audio clip นมล using her own name 4 times in a brief rant.

“พี่ภาสดูถูกนมลเกินไปแล้ว นมลไม่ได้เหยาะแหยะทำอะไรไม่เป็น งานหนักแค่ไหนนมลก็ทำไหว พี่ภาสต้องให้นมลพิสูจน์ตัวเอง”

Since I started with the soaps I’m getting pretty good at compehending spoken Thai.
It’s just a method that works for me.

#5030817 This Can Only Reaffirm That Re Birth Is A Moment To Moment Event & Nothin...

It can probably be said that you 'live on' in the memories of those you leave behind
and if that moves you..great !,

I don't want to live on in the hearts of my countrymen; I want to live on in my apartment. (Woody Allen)

Woody Allen wants continuity and bounded/definable identity (both conditions for each other).  A "stream of existence linking multiple beings" would not satisfy that wish, and I suspect would not satisfy any of us.

"Rebirth", like "Nibbana/Nirvana" is a "mystery" in the conventional religious sense and the two make a religion of Buddhist philosophy.  They also both limit and magnify the Buddha as a human or divine figure.  If he believed in these things because they were core beliefs in his cultural inheritance then he was fully human.  If he knew they were true because of his enlightenment experience then he was "divine", or at least super-human.  To believe the latter is an act of faith, based on confidence in the Buddha, but like all unfalsifiable declarations, faith-based propositions are always open to question.

#5280237 Alert: North Thailand Warned Of Heavy Rain And Flash Flooding

Posted rijb on 2012-05-07 14:29:18

Flash Flood

A flash flood is caused by excess water, usually from a storm. This usually happens downstream from the storm as heavy rains produce more water than the area can handle with nothing to impede its buildup or soak it into the ground.

As a weatherman in Oklahoma recently put it: "It is when a large rain and storm system hovers an area and does 'not leave' or 'move on' (as generally seen with systems) but instead stays, dumping supernatural amounts of water in a "flash," overwhelming even the more extraordinary and multi-competant drainage and levy systems."

This would not have happened 20 years or so ago but massive deforestation has increased the run off so that water (more of it) just gets to lower ground more quickly.

I am so sorry i never got to meet the man in person. He always made me angry with his posts, but I would have loved to hear what he had to say face to face. I'll never forget that little mouse avatar (does that make me dorky?).

I've came across a few people who had a dislike towards BB based on his posts here, but never met him in person.
I guarantee you that you would have liked him if you would have met him for real. :)

Thanks i appreciate it, sometime i am pervaded by that Don Quijote kinda feeling Posted Image
If you read some of my old posts, you will see that i would have more than one reason to deny  at least a few of my neighbours of any sort of respect, however, i don't want the random passer by, his computer and his dog to be denied an opportunity just because of a minority (well, i hope they are a minority...) and also the rest of the neighbourhood (i cover an area of about 2KM), not bad for a semi-jungle zone.
We can have a better world if we start contributing to it ourself Posted Image

#5175486 Bottle Of Aspirin

Posted tolstoy on 2012-03-29 21:11:07

You probably already know, but be careful with taking aspirin here especially if you live near mosquito infested areas.

I often see bottles of Tylenol at most pharmachoice if you could use that instead.

If a man speaks his mind in a forest and no women hears him.....is he still wrong? Posted Image

The Thai-character/psyche can be dangerously "different", as we all know. I would seriously consider finding the 'back-door' before her condition deteriorates into a psychotic-episode,with you in it !

The Buddhist-way is to deny. A life time of suppressed emotion will eventually surface and be projected onto the world in any number of forms ranging from mild -irritation to full-blown murderous rage.

The disney-land level of social Buddhism with its glittering forms and mindless magic does nothing more than re-affirm the forms of social protocol. The higher-forms of Buddhism where inner observation through meditation has been known to be profoundly therapeutic is a common refuge for many Thai-people who suffer from duress. This can be found in the quite-tude of ones home,a forest Wat or a traditional meditation retreat centre.

If you could have a friend or family member of your wife willing to accompany her to an appropriate Wat for a week to 10 days, could be helpful. She can immerse herself in a changed atmosphere that resonates most near and dear to her own heart and cultural identity.
Although I suspect her issues are more likely to do with age (menopause)and bio-chemical brain functions, one should not over look the powerful effects of stillness and silence can have on the human-psyche,especially when it is so intrinsic to the culture itself.

What brand of water are you drinking now?
I just buy the 7-11 brand now in the green bottle or Aura. Singha & Chang have to much chlorine in them and makes me feel like im retaining heat.
being curious i checked the water we use for CL content. neither Chang, nor Nestle nor Singha showed any chlorine content when tested even when doubling the quantity of the testing liquid.

p.s. i'm a Tcherman. vee Tchermans use water for showers, brushing teeth, doing the laundry, swim in it, make coffee, tea or ice cubes and extinguish fires. but vee don't drink it! Posted Image

#5189553 Any Mp3 File, Podcast. Video Etc To Learn Random Thai Numbers Quicker ?

Posted Mole on 2012-04-04 00:33:05

I can't see why there should be difficulty with higher numbers. They're pretty straight forward.
Just memorize what 10, 100, 1000, 10 000, 100 000, 1 000 000 is and that's it.
When saying the numbers out it's like saying it in English. The word order is even the same.
479
four hundred and seventy nine
สี่    ร้อย เจ็ดสิบ เก้า

only twenty is pronounced differently ยิ่สิบ but the others such as 30-90 is simply pronounced as three-ten สามสิบ  or nine-ten เก้าสิบ

It's only a bit complicated for foreigners who's used to say ten thousand and hundred thousand where in Thai there's a special word for those numbers หมื่น and แสน

so instead of two hundred thousand, you have to say สองแสน (song saen)

but then it gets easier with numbers over million, because Thais doesn't have any special name for numbers over million.
Billion would just be a thousand million.
