Hi.
I live in Bangkok but thinking of driving down to Samui for a 2 week break in July/August.
Know nothing about the place other than it is supposed to be beautiful.
Being 60 and married I am not interested in girly bars etc but enjoy good food and a laugh.
I don't want expensive resort type places to stay but equaly don't want to slum it.
Any suggestions of decent friendly places to stay and visit much appreciated.
Having a car I want to get out and about and explore a bit.
Steve

Could do with some advice.
My son in law was recently badly injured while going to help a friend who was being attacked by a gang for as yet unknown reasons. He ended up with 27 stitches in his head and could have died.
This happened in a computer games centre that is apparently run/owned by the local police.
They have arrested one guy but quite a few others were involved.
I would like to see justice done but usually in such cases the victim is paid some compensation by the perpetrators family and the SIL is talking about asking for 50K Baht. The problem with that is the perpetrator may well feel haivng him killed or beaten up again is cheaper than paying up.
I have told him to forget that idea but would like to see justice done. I am due to see the police on Wednesday afternoon if possible. I wonder if anyone can give me advice (other than forget it and do nothing) as to what my options are. Is it possible to threaten private prosectution if the police, as is likely, are not prepared to persue it? Is it worth asking a lawyer to push it? If so can you recomend a lawyer that would take such a case. Is there a higher power I can go to if the locals aren't interested
Would very much appreciate any help.

Cost Of Dental Treatment

Just had a tooth out.
To fill the gap have been quoted about 5,000 Baht for a denture, 25,000 for a bridge and 50,000 for single insertion (new tooth anchored to the jaw bone)
Does anyone have experience and do these prices seem reasonable. Been to this dentist many times and always had good work done at a reasonable price ie fillings etc so I assume the above prices are about average but would like a second opinion.
