In Topic: Opera Browser - Two New Problems

I'd copy my bookmarks, note my settings, then delete opera from my computer and download/reinstall.

I'm a big fan of Opera......use it with TOT adsl no problems.  I'd say the problem is not opera...the problem is whatever the TOT techs did to your settings.

I've had a fixed-term deposit account at SCB for 3 years running.  It shows a single deposit of 810,000 baht.  Interest is paid into my daily needs account.  Never a problem renewing my retirement visa.

Having just returned from 6 weeks in Texas and Florida, my wife and I reconfirmed that our lives are much better off here than there.  You're delusional if you think it's more expensive to live here than there.  That Waffle House breakfast (not clean, noisy, and cramped) that's advertised for $4.99 will end up costing $7 or more by the time you add in coffee, tax, and tip.  Veggies and fruits are seriously expensive.....and sold by the pound versus kilo.  For example, 3-5 scallions generally cost about $0.60 there, here they're about 20-30 baht a kilo.  US tomatoes, yes they're delicious.......cost about $2-3 a pound.  You'd have to pay a whole lot of 200 baht police fines to make up for one US speeding ticket.  When your lawnmower needs a spot weld, you'll probably toss it out and buy a new one........here, I get a spot weld for 10-20 baht.  Flats on my bike are fixed pronto for 20 baht and I get a full tune up on my mountain bike, including new cables for 200 baht........my brother paid $165 for a Cannondale tuneup.  Lastly, I could only dream of having an acre of land, fully landscaped, full time gardener and full time maid back in the US.  Here, it sets me back a few hundred dollars a month....well worth it to allow my and my wife to enjoy our retired lives together.

We pay a live-in maid and gardener (20 yr old maid and her 24 yr old husband) 270 baht each per day.  Their separate bungalow has a refrig, tv, porch, and kitchen supplies.  We give them things like toothpaste, dish/laundry soap, cooking oil, coffee, sugar, a box of mama, a case of M-150 each month, and a catfish pond that's there for them if they want.  We were away from our house for 6 weeks with no problem.  Dogs, birds, 1 acre of land, house all well cared for.   If they want to work 31 days a month, we pay for 31, but generally (if not big holiday) we don't pay for days off.  More often than not, they choose to work all month.
I wouldn't give them up for the world!

I reuse rubber bands used to secure plastic bags of food products.  I haven't bought a bag of rubber bands in 20 years.........must be why I feel so rich!
When I pop into 7-11 for an afternoon ice-cream treat, I tell the clerk to skip the plastic bag.  More often than not, I have to politely leave it on the counter.
If the light up ahead is red, I'm coasting in.....and I don't give a hoot (or a honk) if the person behind me is annoyed.
