Under the new powers, the U.S. Treasury Department is allowed to freeze U.S.-based assets of anyone it believes is acting "directly or indirectly" against the political transition.

That seems pretty broad. Where's the outrage? If Pres Bush had done this there would be mass protests in the streets.
Two reasons , Bush was not Black and neither was he a SocialistPosted Image

#5265425 In Thailand, Killings Of Lesbians Go Unpunished

Posted pacovl46 on 2012-05-01 15:17:08

I'd say, that most murders in Thailand aren't properly investigated in comparison to western countries in scientific terms, and that this has nothing to do with the sexual orientation of the victims. The title makes it sound like only murders of lesbians go unpunished which is certainly not the case!

All will be considered "suicides" in a few days time.  Just give it time for the realization of the forensic difficulties ahead to sink in.
Police: If any person (after checking) finds that their skull is missing we will be happy to reunite the lost piece with it's original owner!

#5105206 Don't Cry For Her, Thailand

Posted OZEMADE on 2012-03-03 15:00:32

I like her. For a woman with limited Political experience, a woman who was expected to lose the election and won it easily, a woman who took over from a Gov that has not done any better than her, a Gov that did not have the worst flood in history to deal with and now a severe drought to deal with. A woman who has had a heap of stupid allegation directed at her and her lifestyle.
She will win out in the end. Watch this space.

""Being a woman won't affect my work as prime minister," said Yingluck Shinawatra shortly after she was named the first female prime minister of Thailand."

This might be true, but being Taksin brother will definately affect her work
Are you revealing a new secret? At what age he/she had the surgery done?

A PM that cries in public? You have to be kidding me. Is that the best you can do Thailand? Geez Barak Obama will go down as the worst President in US history but at least he lets his staff do all the crying and whining for him. Oh well, at least she's easy on the eyes!

#5102928 Bangkok Traffic Police To Get Tough On Cabs

Posted thaikahuna on 2012-03-02 16:42:06

If they want to help ease traffic matters they should reduce the number of taxis. There are an extimated 70,000 taxis in a city that only requires about half that number. Another thing would be for the taxi driver to accept all fares who flag them. I am fed up with the crap of taxi drivers telling me they do not or will not go where I want to go. Failure to accept a fare should result in hack licenxse revocation. Now, why won't this ever happen? The taxi mafia.

Let them go blow smoke up someone else's ass.

Seconded.  What kind of crap taxi service refuses a fare?  Have never seen this in any other country ever, it's ridiculous.

#5081404 Why Are There So Many Americans In Chiang Mai?

Posted Martied on 2012-02-23 17:31:14

As an American, these are a few of the reasons that I am here:
1. Police are not on every street corner.
2. Taking an airplane does not require you to have your privates fondled by a pervert.
3. The corruption in Thailand is much lower than in America.
4. The women are not ashamed to be a woman nor act like one.
5. The women on average are 25k smaller.
6. Problems can usually be resolved without a lawyer and huge expenses.
7. Healthcare is much cheaper tho not as good.
8. 0bama bumper stickers are nowhere to be found.

My country seems to be having a few problems lately.

#5096962 Passive Smoking In Restaurants

  • Actually, Good Ol Boy Bill is demonstrating typical smokers' behaviours:
  • ********************************************************************************************************************
  • 'simple denial: deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether
  • minimisation: admit the fact but deny its seriousness (a combination of denial and rationalization)
  • projection: admit both the fact and seriousness but deny responsibility.
The concept of denial is particularly important to the study of addiction.'  - Wiki

But the topic relates to how we should treat each other, and I have suggested, and am convinced, that those of us who are not addicted should select kindness every bit as much as pity.  Humour as sometimes helps, unless you hit a nerve.

+1
Discussions about smoking (in public) have the same character like  talking about politics or religion.
The smokers here in this thread  BELIEVE they don’t make any health problem to others. The addiction is defended by all means und ugly words against all sanity. Take a smoker to a cancer clinic and let them see the smokers to be dying they will find an excuse.

Their reaction to your post has traits of some religious fanatics. Never concede the proven truth, but believe ......

BTW. My Post #17 wasn’t pro smoking, but  against inconsequent whining and whinging

We smokers abide by the law, and try not to bother others ~ mallmagician

Hmm.  Pretty bold assertion.  First time, I think, that I must disagree with your view, this one.

I'm coming around to the belief that Songkran should be held year-round, with squirt guns and hoses aimed at every single smoker enjoying his addiction under a roof (except her own), if Thai law says no smoking under a public roof that is otherwise out-of-doors.

Is it legal in Thailand to carry a concealed hand(squirt)gun?

Squirt, squirt

#5096540 Passive Smoking In Restaurants

Posted tolstoy on 2012-02-29 10:22:26

So you are saying that if I am sitting in the restaurant and someone starts smoking near me, that I am the one that should move? That is ridiculous.

Comparing smoking to other hazards in life is ridiculous also. Yes there are hazards everywhere and people doing stupid things but it is different than someone seeing children around and blowing smoke in the same area. Consideration of others should be paramount. I think that smokers tend to be the most selfish people though. They feel that they have a right to smoke anywhere and if others are offended then they should leave.

#5064504 Bangkok Shopping Centres Are Better Than Western Centres?

There are a lot more good quality, interesting things to buy in an American mall, but girl watching and just walking around is a lot better here.
