You could always get it towed to the garage that normally does the work on it safe in the knowledge its being properly looked after.

It's 2002, A6 2.4.
The electrics have already had several coconut mechanics working their 'magic' on them. They did manage to fix the aircon, and the indicators have been working for more than a couple of years now (after 4 failed attempts to fix).
It's running ok now, which is why I'm reluctant to let them at it again....
