I have a friend who will be entering Thailand on a tourist visa, and then changing to Non O and 1 year extension based on retirement at Jomtien. Will he have to show proof of residence? If yes, will staying at a guesthouse be OK? I ask this because he will be renting a condo long-term but cannot get a lease with just a tourist visa. Thanks.

I will be doing my extension renewal tomorrow at Jomtien. I just want to confirm there has been no changes recently.

I am with TOT in Pattaya. When I try to connect to some websites outside of Thailand, it times out. This is occurring on some. not all, sites. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent earthquake in Japan. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

We took delivery of a new 2-door Automatic Dmax Isuzu platinum truck on Nov 1st. Already our security at the condo building told us a couple of strangers were looking at it, and you have to specifically go into the parking area to do this. So we are a little concerned that they were doing a check through for a possible future theft. Now I know its virtually impossible to stop professional thieves, but I would appreciate any ideas for some extra security. Thanks.

My passport expires in July 2012. I currently hold the 1 year extension based on retirement which is valid until May each year. So when I renew the extension in 2012, it will be only valid until July. I will get a new passport when back in Canada in April 2012. So what happens when I return to Thailand in October 2012? Should I renew my passport here in Thailand before leaving in April?
