Teaching Math, Science, Engineering (Tutoring Maybe)

2012-05-21 12:58:26

I would expect Math, Science, Engineering (high school, undergraduate level calculus etc.) would pay better than typical Teaching english work.  I have a BS Mechanical engineering, MS in Applied math.  20 year + engineer, military officer etc.  Looking at semi-retirement and teaching to keep my brain active and I do like to see people learn.  I did teach math, algebra, calculus to undergraduates here in the USA while getting my MS.

  I really like the idea of tutoring.   How to do it?  I have seen posts that tutoring on the side, is a bit of a grey area if one has a teaching assignment at a school.  Some thoughts;

1:  Form a business in Thailand?
2:  Have it written in or "allowed" in the school contract?

thanks

2012-05-21 12:23:05

Getting close to the Retirement Visa-Non Immigrant O-A.

What is a Personal Data Form?  What is an acceptable medical certificate?  Letter from my USA doctor?  Some Thai form?  How about the income statement?  My Etrade bank statements are online.  I doubt  they will send an original with a notary on it.  Anybody just print a statement and have it notarized?

Benefits Of Getting The Retirement Visa If "Gaps" In My Retirement

2012-05-14 04:04:09

I easily could qualify for the Thai Retirement Visa by either the monthly income or funds deposit in Thailand.  I am 55, a USA citizen.   No criminal or drug or health issues etc.  My question is about is it worth it for me to get the Retirement Visa if I will not be in the country the entire year or if I take a break from Thailand for 6 months or so.  I envision me staying 6 months at a time or even two times in a year for a bout 90 days each time.  If I stay 9 months or so, then I am sure the visa is worth getting.

If I stay maybe 1/2 of the year, is it more beneficial to get the Retirement Visa?  My concerns would be all the paperwork and then how it is continued if interrrupted?  Do I have to start at square one and get the Retirement Visa all over again?   Another example is if I stay in Thailand the first year.  But the second year, I decide to go back to the USA for a juicy Contract Engineer position (keep my brain exercised, work on an aerospace project I like, make money of course), what happens?   Do I lose the Visa?

Thanks,

Maithong Mangosteen Body Wash. Where?

2012-03-15 11:22:24

I bought some of this and was absolutely spoiled.  Thought I bought it at Carre 4.  Of course Carre 4 is now just another Big C and duplicate of everything.  In December I could not find the stuff.  I tried all the places I thought I was in, the Big C pharmacies on second road, Tops, etc.  Anybody got an idea where to find it in Pattaya?

Thanks

Bus To Bang Saray Or Other Ways?

2012-03-13 06:55:38

I am rarely in a hurry when in Pattaya.  Have heard good things about Bang Saray:  decent beach for swimming, etc.  Can anybody recommend how to get there?   Taxi price if I default to that?  A reasonable bus ride is fine with me.  I don't mind riding high and looking out the window.  Thinking of a day trip or if there are any reasonable hotels I would stay a few days.

Thanks
